Mixed Feelings
Kamisama follows in the footsteps of Darling in the Franxx, where the story builds and expectations are heightened just to trip and fall clumsily in the last few episodes. Although were Darling in the franxx aimed for epic, Kamisama is busy trying to figure out how to even aim.

Main characters lose sensibilities, previously established plot is thrown out the window and new plot is...also just introduced to be latter forgotten in the next episode.

BUT...the story at its core is a good one and it's unfortunate it didn't reach it's full potential, instead playing out like last minute changes were made or there were conflicts with ...

Frozen Bonds provides great background to Emilia's character in the first half to 3/4 of the OVA. In particular the scenes having her so excited about talking to other people and the betrayal. However this is let down by the final 15 or so minutes that just continues to repeat itself. Boring, repetitive dialogue that just drags, not from Emilia, but from the new spirit character. Unfortunately it is the ending and is what your left thinking about once its over instead of all the good story and character building of the beginning.

The two main characters are an incredibly interesting dynamic, acting as a team that supports the others weaknesses while also being unable to function without each other. Steph also acts as a main character, spurring most of the action and explanations but also acts as the comedic relief and at times some nice emotional moments ...

Magia Record is not what I would consider a continuation of the Madoka series and actually follows the same path of revelation from Madoka, sometimes making it feel like a path already taken. This isn't helped by the 2 main characters amounting to replicas of the 2 main characters from Madoka, from the character design to the personality's.

The show begins interestingly enough with a good hook but quickly disappears underneath a cover of what felt like filler content. Content that was meant to get you closer to the characters but fell short. That's not to say story threads weren't introduced and curiosity's peaked but explanations ...
