This is not really something similar, since My Home is a 5 minute short film and Cross Game a full 50 episode show. I still think, people who liked Cross Game and like Slice of Life and Coming-of-Age anime in general, will enjoy this short film and should give it a chance.

As it was already recommended a few times by people, these two anime fit quite well together. It's not like they are especially similar or anything, they probably are pretty different. THe only similarity they both have is the main character type, which is a talented guy, coming into a new sport and learning it from the scratch to eventually blow up. And both main characters are very smart at what they are doing. Maruo in Baby Steps is probably one step (ha!) ahead of Ippo, if it comes to that, though.

This is something i personally think. Not many people even know of Hungry Heart, which is just sad. It's a fact, that this is the best football anime ever made, and none other comes close to that, sadly. It has such good quality and at the same time, the humor/comedy is quite similar to Hajime no Ippo's one. They are both hilariously overdrawn slapstick comedies and have geniusly loveable characters. If you loved Ippo, Hungry Heart definitely won't disappoint you. And if you watched Hungry Heart first, well, then go ahead and watch Ippo. It's as good as Hungry Heart and even better.

I consider these two anime the two best Thriller anime i've ever seen. And debating, Monster is probably the best Thriller anime existing. They both have really smart MCs and deliver a story, which seems unbelievable hard for them. You could not think of a way for these characters, to solve their problems and the surrounding crimes. Both anime are dark, gloomy and real. At least they feel so. Both anime have several plot twists, interesting characters and story lines and deep deep character development.

These two anime can't really be much more similar than this. The only real difference is the fact, that one is about biking and one is about tennis. Both have main characters, who hold a really big potential to the sport in them, without really knowing it. And both are such hard working people, you wouldn't imagine. Both series tell a story about a rather unpopular guy getting good in a sport and striving his way through the competition there is.

If you like realistic sports anime, with hardworking characters, who have to come up huge from being a relatively bad or not so good player, then this is something for you. Both have loveable and really good developing characters, both have insanely good strategic aspects to the sport in them and both tell a competively story about their sport in a fashion, where you really don't want there to be an ending. But still, they are both really a must watch, if you are into sport anime.

Hikaru no Go has a similar premise and setting as Chihayafuru. Both stories are told about a slow "sport", which is learned by the characters and used in competition. Both main characters are overly powerful, but need to establish this right, to really get one of the best in the show. Both have rivals, and both main characters work in a club environment for this kind of "sport". Both shows have a rather slow pacing and people who like that, because that truly gives the characters a lot more room to develop, should watch Hikaru no Go.
