To start off, I've watched the original anime, I'm a fan of Nightow-sensei and I've started watching Trigun Stampede only because I really, really like Kekkai Sensen.
The CGI, surprisingly, is pleasant to watch and it wasn't awkward or wonky in comparison to recent animes which incorporated the element of CGI to the point of overusing.
Frankly, the pacing and the story of the old show could have been more interesting. There is nothing to complain about the design and visual of this 90s anime, still, the pacing and story was lacking. The first 5-6 episodes are too slow and it's easy to get zoned

out throughout most of it. After the appearance of one of the main villains, it gets interesting, but only briefly. At the last three episodes, with the forced romance between the characters, viewers was left wondering whether it was Nightow's intention or the script writer's idea to throw in some cliche romance in order to catch up with the "trend" back then.
The old show, in my opinion, was good, but not great, which is one of the reasons why Trigun is having a remake.
In the remake, the design is a minus at first but the pacing, the CGI, the music and everything else makes up for it. According to an interview, Nightow was the one who proposed to adapt the remake into 3DCGI. It was a kind of experimental move but in the hands of Orange, it appears this was the right choice. All of the elements in the old show is there in the remake and it's hard not to get excited to see what is going to happen next.
For new viewers who haven't watched the original, you can enjoy this.
For old viewers, bear in mind this is not going in the same direction as the old Trigun anime, keep an open mind and surely you can enjoy this too.
