I'm seeing a lot of hate for this show and I don't really understand why. Did you think by seeing Yasuke's name it was going to be a by the book historical drama? There is literally giant mecha and psychic powers in the trailer. I would say take it in the same vain as Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

I think there was potential there but, this has to be one of the most frustrating things I have ever had to watch. The pacing is so off-kilter. They try to cram so much exposition into a small amount of time. I haven't read the source material but I have to imagine the pacing is better. It had an interesting premise but with no follow-through. Perhaps if it had 24 episodes it could of been better. One positive about the show is the art. It is one of the most classic stories in the western canon. Adapted into Japanese anime. I have seen multiple versions of 'The Count of Monte Cristo' this is the best one in my opinion. The art direction and animation is perfect. Audio design and character design is flawless in every aspect. One of the most underrated shows in my opinion. I loved every part of this show. Who would be the Anti-Christ in these times & could the son of the devil actually compete with evil in modern times? This series asks this question and reviews it thoroughly showing the capacity for evil within humanity. This show sticks very closely to reality imagine if you were watching a regular drama but just animated pretty similar. That's not to say the animation isn't great because it does capture a very realistic style. Which from what I've seen from the manga is what that is going for as well.
