(Spoiler Warning)
This a very iconic anime, and I can see why. It is a anime that gets you off guard almost every time. Light and L are equally matched rivals, and it is one of the most entertaining things ever. Throughout the whole show, you are either rooting for Light or L. I was personally rooting for L. It has an almost perfect ending also. The ending changes your perspective on Light either if you were rooting for him or not. After the ending, when Light dies, I was wondering if he was really trying to help the world, or if he was

just a psycho path. It would be the same vice versa if I was rooting for Light.
However, between episode 25, and the ending, I found it boring. When L died, it just wasn't the same. You didn't really get to see the interesting bond between L and Light. Near honestly just felt like a replacement to L, and that is what he was. I also did not like Mello, Teru Mikami, and Kiyomi Takada.
There was also a lot of characters with wasted potential. The two biggest ones to me were Touta Matsuda, and Watari.
Even though of all those problems, it is a very solid anime.
