Tenchi is a great series. They have a lot of branching and spin-offs with characters and families. Some are better then others. As far as spin-offs go, this is by far the best in my opinion. Attention to animation and character designs. Character backgrounds and stories are filled out. 45 minute episodes (WOOO!) makes this series feel a lot longer then 13 episodes. Many tie-ins to the original Tenchi "universe". I like the fact that they made an obvious "most powerful" main character and let him pretty much do as he pleased. Yet he still gets pushed around by the ladies to do things. Since ...

Preliminary (4/12 eps)
Story is so very typical of its genre. The characters pretty much fall in their typical rolls. Another cookie cutter harem anime with demons and angels thrown in (plenty of nudity too). The art is rated high ONLY because it has one of the smoothest, accurate, well done endings I have ever seen. Mainly in the parts where the girls are dancing (and DAMN they can move!). If you don't watch the series, I would at least recommend watching the ending sequence. Too bad the episode animation does not follow suit. I'll watch it, only cause when it comes to anime, I am a completionist.

One thing that made me want to see this show. THE ART! I saw the trailer, and was unbelieving. I watched the entire series, and now am a believer. This is one of the most unique and well done art styles I have seen in an anime in a long time. The heavy lines, softness of the colors, detail, all combines to make it very nice to watch.

Granted, there is a lot of fan service. And I agree with others assessment, the ink blots used to cover naughty bits was annoying, especially in combat. However, getting the blu-ray version obviously fixed this problem.

I don't have ...

Fun to watch. Events in the district that cause changes in the real world are implemented brilliantly. I like how they show the assets speaking to their owners. The idea of Midas money, demonic printing press, future and the economy is interesting and fairly unique combination. I don't recall seeing an anime like this before. I liked the art and animation, assets and the district were colorful and diverse. The assets were cool as well, representing each persons future differently and having different attacks and abilities. Fights scenes were well done and interesting. The one thing lacking was the relationship development of real word people ...

Katanagatari (Anime) add
Wow. Loved the series. Couldn't wait for the next one to come out! The story was well thought out and put together. I love the thick line storybook style drawing, it was a nice change from the norm. (Hyakka Ryouran is also doing it now.) A few of the main characters have a lot of depth, but many of the secondary and even third level characters are lost as to their story or why they are there. The music is good, much of the combat is really well done and fun to watch and the 45 min episodes are a ...

Angel Beats! (Anime) add
I usually don't write reviews, but I should more often. This show made me want to. The story changes dynamically all the way to the end. It starts out fast paced and crazy, funny, weird things happening. Then slows down a bit in the middle as you come to terms with each characters story and they fight to survive. By the end it is slow and emotional like Clannad, Air and Canon. I found myself saying "WHAT THE HECK!?" and becoming emotionally drawn to the truth you find at the end and the sadness/happiness that follows. Watch all ...

In short, being the continuation of the first series, this one is very emotionally moving. Very sad things happen, the kind that make me want to throw my monitor and not see it sad. Very good things happen to counter though. Deep and moving story about the trials of starting a family, and losing it. Watch the first series so it gives you a feel for the characters, but be emotionally prepared for this one.
