Claymore, as a whole, is probably one of my favorite Animes of all time; melancholic, gruesome, and moving. Although the series isn't as fresh in my mind as I want it to be, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this anime to the fullest extent.
The story flowed very nicely throughout, and since I didn't read the manga, I'm not going to complain about how it diverged from the main plot towards the end. It stayed consistent with itself, and every episode was very entertaining. Extended bloody battle scenes, sentimentality, and overcoming obstacles seemed to be the forte within this show. During some episodes

I cried, I cheered, and especially, I yelled. I think my favorite part about the story is that it's constantly introducing new aspects that hadn't been heard of before, such as rankings, awakened beings, the black card, the organization, and the abyssal ones.
I absolutely adored the artwork in this Anime. Not only was the drawing precise and the technique unique, the character designs were so original and beautiful. The way they distinguished each claymore with a different hairstyle made it all the more enjoyable to view, because each was beautiful in their own way. Also, I've honestly never seen such fantastic designs for any monsters in any anime. The awakened beings, by far, showcased the talent of the creative directors. Specifically in the cave scene, where the one who was (I believe) unnamed, transforms into this elegant, futuristic looking white monster. I loved it.
There's not much to say about the sound; it was strong and acted as a good compliment to the rest of the show.
This part will probably be rather long. The characters in Claymore were one of the strongest, and weakest, aspects of the show. Some characters I absolutely ADORED- I couldn't wait to see more of them- and then others were unneeded and unintentionally infuriating. For one thing, I absolutely despised Raki. He is possibly the most whiny, annoying, ill-created supporting sidekick in the history of any anime. I hated him from the second he screamed 'CLARE', and the hate grew even more during his and the latter's 'romantic interlude'. Also, Priscilla had the weakest motivation to kill ever. I really, really disliked her. But every other character I pretty much loved. Scene stealers included Galatea, Ophelia, Undine, Llena, Helen, and Teresa; they were among my favorites in a strong cast. Now for the main character: Clare. Clare was sometimes one of my favorites, and also sometimes one of my least favorites. Her cold personality was a strong point in the beginning, but towards the end, her wrath towards Priscilla grew rather annoying. I did enjoy her, though.
Overall, as stated in the opening, this was one of my favorite Animes of all time and is a must-see, in my opinion. I found it on Live Play, on Netflix. PLEASE check it out. :)
