Most sequels are way worse than the first one, and the second season of Chuunibyou is just another example approved this theory. For anyone like me, enjoyed the in-depth story about family and self-consciousness in the first season, will completely let down by season 2. The story in the second season is just simple normal romance story, and even this tasteless plot was presented in a messy way.
After watching the whole season, I felt only episode 10 and 11 helped develop the story. Most episodes in season 2 are completely nothing to do with the further development of the plot. Yes, I enjoyed the gags
...
in these episodes, but it doesn't mean I can tolerate so many empty meaningless episode. Just imagine it, I've waited a whole week for a good episode, but what I got is an episode about nap competition? Jeez!
I'm wondering what will it be if the story of season 2 became the movie version? Now we got a terrible recap movie and a terrible season 2, why not just turn the story of season 2 into the movie instead of a recap movie? I'm sure this story will be clearer and better paced if KyoAni turn it into 100 minutes (actually I think 90 minutes could finish this story), and I'm sure an average movie will be a lot better than a bad movie plus a bad season.
