People should not throw Tokyo Mew Mew away at face value. Truly the show is much more complex than it seems at first, and it is honestly one of my most favorite animes. You'd never expect such themes of betrayal, true love, and determination to be in a seemingly small kids show. Please give it a watch and be more accepting!
The reason why I like the show so much is because of how surprisingly dark and addicting the series gets. With 5 girls running around in frilly costumes to save the day, the dark themes and heart breaking scenes are a shocker but are
...
beautifully executed throughout the series. For me it made the show all the more enjoyable to watch. I connected with the characters on a personal level and even shed a few tears here and there. Even if you arent exactly a hardcore shoujo fan, I believe this show is overall an amazing watch. Though the show does start out slowly and a little contrived, try to get passed the first 12 episodes. You will be pleasently surprised with Tokyo Mew Mew's excellent character development, undeniably cute moments, and impacting values. Tokyo Mew Mew is the perfect example of the expression "Don't judge a book by it's cover".
