Every person in the world with a slightest interst in anime has surely heard of Clannad Afterstory, which is being labeled as one of the best pieces of anime ever produced. Unfortunately, after watching it, it did not live up to expectations.
The story picks off where first season of Clannad ended. Storyline tries to follow Tomoya`s life after he successfully entered a romantic relationship with Nagisa. The episodes that still deal with life their high school life and lives of people somehow distantly connected to Tomoya, are simply redundant. They don`t offer anything to the overall feel of the show and they create number of

absolutely unrealistic, ridiculous and quasi-sad situationsI. I don`t think that it would decrease show`s overall quality if they were scrapped alltogether. However, all-in-all I can undestand their presence in the series, as there surely are people who enjoy these kind of stories. Anyway, if you will either love (good for you) or hate first few episodes, as far as I`m concerned, real Clannad Afterstory starts after Tomoya`s graduation. Story arcs developed after this event, gave me a hint why Clannad is so popular. Plots were all well-crafted, thought provoking and most of all enjoyable and emotional. To see Tomoya try to deal with his everyday life and observe all the belivable and real problems is without a doubt very interesting. And if show did end with the 21st episode, Clannad would indeed be one of the better animes I`ve seen. BUT, for some reason, creators of this show had to ruin all their good work by 22nd Final episode, that send the whole story, so intriguingly built, to the gutter. Last episode simply did not make any sense in the context of what the previous episodes were trying to accomplish and I firmly believe that this kind of ending can be considered good only by someone who cannot face reality as it is.
Quality of Afterstory are undenialbe and I`ve come to an understanding that there are people that enjoyed the ending. So all I can say is, I thoroughly reccommed all of you to watch both Clannad and Clannad Afterstory, but I must add that if you consider yourself more rationally and philosophically oriented and you just can`t stand those out of place happy ends, skip the last episode and I believe you will not be disappointed.
The overall score without the last episode would be 9, and with the last episode it would be 5...so that leaves me with the average of 7.
