Both series have someting related to "dagashi" (candy), the female characters do not go to any school and are involved in that industry related to large "oppai" (Ilulu/Hotaru Shidare), the male characters (Taketo Aida/Kokonotsu Shikada) are both high school students and are attracted to these girls and their senior relatives (Taketo's grandmother/Kokonotsu's father) own the candy shop. However, that similarity only applies to the second season of Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon.

Both are very different in the vibes and how the story tells. However, there is a quite similarity in both anime: the character. Both Eru Chitanda and Chiya Ujimatsu are obsessive, quite annoying and funny. Both have links to "green tea", such as it is Chitanda's favorite drink and Chiya's name origin. Sometimes, they make weird faces to make us laugh.

Both have a similar comedic vibes. Both Rikka and Hiyori have a dramatic background and feel sympathy towards their love ones (Yuuta for romance and Yato and Yukine for friendship), such as when Rikka cries because of the loss of her father and because she has strong feelings for Yuuta and Hiyori cries because she does not like to loss her friends (Yato and Yukine). Both Yuuta and Yato have a hard time adjusting to Rikka and Hiyori and later, after getting to know each other more in both series, they needed the girls importantly. Recommended since both have a great vibe and are interesting to watch. Both Rikka and Hiyori are awesome characters that you would love despite their personality differences: Rikka is a delusional 15-year-old girl while Hiyori is just a normal 14-year-old middle school girl.

Both have the same romantic chemistry and vibe and in one of the episodes, the male MC and the female MC of Ao Haru Ride has the similar scene on what Yuuta did to Rikka (karate chop). Both Rikka and Futaba are very romantic girls whom they admire their strong feelings for the male MCs (Yuuta/Kou) and cry dramatically for their love towards them. Both also have a background past in middle school. Both Rikka and Futaba are interesting characters to love and admire and both anime are great romance anime to watch.

Both have an intense love story and a perfect touch for the main girls' affection to the main boys. The main boys of both series (Yuuta/Miyuki) are trying to develop their love for the characters (Rikka/Kaguya). However, they tend to nearly hide their love for the main girls. The only difference is that Yuuta pretending not to be honest about loving Rikka while Miyuki does not show his true feelings to Kaguya. Both Rikka and Kaguya have feelings to the main boys.
