Very very very similar. The protagonist is basically the best in the academy and he gets in a fight with one of the strongest female students on campus literally the first day. Also the male protagonists have a strong connection with their sisters and a dark past to boot. I mean their names rhyme - Ayato and Hayato. Very harem filled with enough shounen action to keep somewhat of an interest.

Both protagonists are outcast anti-socials. However one day, they somehow bump into one of their school's most popular guys and he befriends them. But ultimately teaches her how to open up, making more friend, with of course: love triangles, crying, and drama. The story also slightly focuses on the female lead's friends and their romances. Kimi ni Todoke seems more upbeat, soft, and relaxed despite the occasional drama. Sukitte li na yo is more dramatic and their romance progresses much faster than Kimi ni todoke does. Most likely if you love one then you will probably end up loving the other, that is, if you like one because of the plot and story line.

Well both main characters are young, a bit naive, and try to 'fit in' at school. However they both have enemies that can perform similar abilities as the main character can(ex, have dolls or guardian characters). Anyway, both protagonists have magical friends that help fighting off the bad guys that want to do harm. It's more or so a slice of life meets magical friends with colorful magical transformation. Synopsis: Shugo Chara: -Elementary student who is trying to discover who she is -She ends up having her 'charas' make her transform in order to fight off bad eggs -The student council at her school fights along -Romance is involved Fantasista Doll: -Main character used to be an elite card player -Has to command these battle dolls to fight for her -She does none of the actual fighting, except laying down trap cards Overall both have the same feel, friendship, adventure, action, "discovering-yourself" vibes. I'm surprised it hasn't been recommended yet. Out of the two I reccommend Shugo Chara because it has better character development, plot, understanding, and was more interesting than Fantasista Dolls has been.

First off, Mahou isn't romance (then again, Toki wa kakeru shoujo doesn't display a lot of romance) but both animes are both built upon a solid relationship with loved ones and friends. Mahou Shoujo: Magic Girls. However, is not like Sailor Moon or Pretty Cure, but displays more darker and chaotic elements within that involve time, space, and energy. A quintet of girls involve themselves with giving up their souls to a cat-like crature who is titled "the Messenger of Magic". In return, they are granted a wish and are turned into a magic girl to fend off the city by killing witches to clean their soul gems. If the gems are not purged, then they, in return, will receive a cruel fate. Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo: The protagonist Makoto Konno is a bit of an airhead, innocent, and caring but also involves herself with Time Leaping, which enables her to shape her past. Her aunt (the protagonist of the prequel) explains this is 'natural' and to be careful while she's time traveling, but she is doing it almost every second of the day. Hysterical emotions wage within you, reverting to laughter, and quick terror. Personally, this had my heart racing with all the stupid actions she took. T_T She involves herself, not only with the death, but as well as an impossible romance~!
