I would like to start off by saying that I am a huge ghibli fan. It has always been my all time favourite and I have been impressed over and over again by their work.
However, I'm afraid I can't really say the same about this one. I understand that this movie was based off a novel, and I'm sure that the storyline was much clearer there. In the film however, I had no idea what was going on and even the ending explanation left me confused and unsatisfied.

Angel Beats isn't the best anime ever but it certainly isn't a complete flop either. In fact it has so much potential which makes it all the more disappointing that it didn't quite get there.
The story holds a really interesting concept around afterlife and the state of fulfilment and unfulfillment. The art is there and the characters all have relatively interesting personalities. I particularly enjoyed the stories of the character's past life and the reason why they are stuck in a world between life and death. However the anime only covered some of the character's back stories and left a lot of the other's ...

'Noragami' is an average anime with the characters and storyline mediocre.
Saying that however, there's just something about it that draws me in and that's the reason why I gave it slightly above average. It also includes elements of romance and action creating an overall good mix. It explores Japanese culture well in terms of shrines and the gods as well as modern society excluding the supernatural parts. In my opinion I think the first season drags out the main storyline a bit so I prefer the second season where you find out more about Yato's past. But you can't watch the second season without ...

I know many people will disagree with what I am about to write, but I have to say this was one of the most ridiculous movies I have ever watched to the point where I laughed.
Makoto Shinkai is a big hit at the moment after his successful movie 'Your Name' (which was extremey overrated) and I feel like people are just giving him praise because of that movie. I can understand people's admiration towards the visual aspect of the animation since the artwork is beautiful (although it's not my personal taste) however the plot of the story is so laughable and absurd it defeats ... |
