Here we have another Adachi-sensei's manga adaptation. The author obviously developed which resulted into such a splendid story. I'm far from being a baseball fan and understanding the mesmerizing charm of the game (which, to be honest, seems more of a boredom to me), yet it hadn't prevented me from enjoying what was going on a single time. The characters are bright, and living, and seeking, and loving. The series tell us a story of nearly entire life, showing how someone grows up, and someone breaks down, but then finds something to make them move forward. An undescribably splendidl story, as clear as a dew drop. Only one forest, only two characters, only few meetings, yet the depicted world is so deep and versatile you can't help believing it. The film shows a magic world of yokai, how they deal with the world of people, how the worlds are different and what happens when the two worlds overlap. Music matches the picture perfectly well, it's such a pleasure to listen to it, it's a lovely symphony pleasing one's demanding ears. Monster (Anime) add
This is a really big and complicated story. I don't usually like anime about European culture (for the reason that European culture stops being actually European and becomes somewhat "Japanised") but that's not the case. That strange love of the Japanese cartoonists for orphans, experiments on personality, conspiracy, military men and crazy lunatics was finally put into a very decent, serious setting. The most dreadful thing about the whole story is that it's easy to imagine the events taking place in the real world (for those who are familiar with the history of World War II, at least).
