Plastic Memories is your run of the mill romance/drama with a little sci-fi sprinkled in there. I didn't hate the show, but it did little to stand out from the rest of the genre. When I finished the last episode, however, I did look back at the show in a positive light. Though the show lacks originality, it is not so cliché that it is unwatchable. The show clearly demonstrates why there are typical plot and character devices in romance/dramas, it’s because they work time and time again.

first episode you will likely know exactly how the story will end. The story is driven by one key fact that Giftias (the robots in the show) have a limited life span. With this one rule, the rest of the story plays out through character interaction. The futuristic sci-fi world set up in the show plays little to no role in the story other than the existence of sentient robots. I was quite displeased in how little the world was developed, but what can you ask for in 12 episodes.
Art: 8/10
The character designs and backgrounds are well done but unoriginal. The art works for the show.
Sound: 7/10
The OP is pretty catchy and the rest of the music was well done. It doesn't stand out too much and there was nothing that I heard that amazed me.
Character: 7/10
I was pretty disappointed in the main characters. They are very bland. Tsukasa is your typical male hero who is sensitive and does the right thing, and Isla is your typical heroin that seems to be stupidly incompetent and relies on the hero for everything. The show is saved in this department by having a good cast of side characters. They are funny and significantly more dynamic that the main characters. I found that I enjoyed their development more than the main ones.
Enjoyment: 7/10
Even thought the show is unoriginal and very predictable, I still enjoyed it. As I said previously, the show plays the typical plot and character devices for the genre; however, there is a reason that the clichés are used. It's because they work.
