My initial impression of this manga was that it seemed like a bit of a hammy dystopian fic, but the more I read, the more I find it's really well executed. The moral quandaries and interpersonal relationships are actually pretty complex only a couple of volumes in. I was initially worried that the series would be a shallow display of desperation, but instantly we've mixed it with mystery and fear of the unknown. The first real case (i.e. the pianist) presented some really intriguing conflicted emotions between characters. I'm really excited to see where the story goes.

Since there are no reviews, I will say a few words about it:
To put it succinctly, most chapters in this book are very hard to follow, and the ones that aren't aren't especially good either. There is very little flow between panels, and many chapters just read as a string of disconnected scenes leading up to a plot twist that has no legs to stand on since nothing leading to it made any sense.
The 4th chapter strikes me as potentially kind of clever, but it would need to be translated two-fold to know for sure, and I doubt it's worth the time.

If you feel like the original Franken Fran was slowly becoming a sit-com, that doesn't get better.
Also, if you feel like the original Franken Fran was slowly becoming less funny over time, that also doesn't get better.
Ultimately, Frantic becomes very samey with it's humor and plotlines. At some point it feels like almost every chapter is meant to be a throwback. The story certainly becomes a lot more about the cast of characters as well - Almost character clickbait; Adorea in love?? Fran with elf ears?? I don't know, I kind of liked it when the original Fran started building the cast out, but now
...
it just feels weak.
Some of the later chapters also rub me the wrong way. I guess they just start throwing in a lot of messed up themes with no real value added to the story as a result.
As it stands, I think I'm up to date with the manga so far and I don't intend to stay up to date. I think there maybe are some chapters still worth reading, but it might really be better to just read a couple of fan-favorites than the whole series.

This manga is very much a compilation of ghost stories, which is not particularly my cup of tea as far as horror goes, but nonetheless, there was definitely a story or two in here that landed pretty well for me, with the rest being fairly unnoteworthy.
I think the most obvious improvement to this manga would be the art. It's quite plain and a bit repetitive. There's that one face, that wasn't particularly scary, but they kinda just kept using it.
I'd say that these stories are quite hit or miss, but they're short enough that it's not an unworthwhile read.

I can't say I didn't find this show entertaining, but in the end it was a pretty unsatisfying mystery.
First off, let's get art and sound out of the way: they were both good, but not really noteworthy aside from the OP & ED which were catchy and stylish. These categories don't really contribute much to my impression of the show.
Next is the meat and potatoes: The story and characters.
I think most people watch mysteries to try to figure them out alongside the lead characters, but the impression I get here is that save for a few people who figured it out instantly and were bored
...
the whole way through, most people were strung along at the mercy of some very obtuse, misdirecting hints. Some examples:
-The show continually stresses that the robot who can lock and unlock doors is important, but in the end the plot piece it was tied to was just really unnecessary and contrived.
-There's this great big symbolic parallelism thing with the bloody doll that is thrown away and Moe's bloody doll-like dress that gets thrown away, and it's just meaningless to the plot entirely.
-The show is full of red herrings like the drill with the metal filings and the television parts. They're not even addressed as red herrings though, they're just disappointing.
Then when not being misdirected, the viewer is at the mercy of what the characters will investigate and what information will not be withheld until the near-end. To put it vaguely: there are several instances where the characters will confirm that something is the case multiple times, and then they're just wrong. Plot twists are nice and all, but these just makes you feel like the information you're given is meaningless and that you're not meant to be solving, just along for the ride.
Then let's talk about the characters. The show just feels like it's constantly trying to flex how intelligent and philosophical the characters are. Like there's just some really basic nihilism being toted as philosophical genius. Aside from that, the main characters get a mediocre romance, and I guess smoking counts as a personality now too. That's about it.
The other thing is like, are we just gonna skip over the whole incest childrape thing? Like normal people: "The timeline works out that she needs to have had sex in her early teens. Should we rewrite? Maybe at least find her a lover her age?" This show: "Idk, make her screw her uncle." It just kind of made the show very uncomfortable to watch while serving no purpose but to do just that.
In conclusion this show was entertaining, but was a bit pretentious and contrived.

Demon Slayer is an enjoyable and refreshing shounen. Wasn't perfect, but it was still very well done. Looking over the review I'm about to post, it seems pretty critical, but in spite of that, I genuinely quite liked the show.
Story: 8
A new member to the ever-growing subgenre of "these monsters eat humans and we need to kill them but oops now we've got like a half-human-half-monster and we're conflicted about it." So yeah, it's kind of been done before, but this time it's not the main character, it's their sister, so it's super different. But really... it's done pretty well and it doesn't feel too
...
much like a rip-off of anything so it's a solid 8 from me.
Also I guess this where I mention the odd pacing at the start of the show. A lot of the things you expect to be big, multi-episode arcs are over in the blink of an eye. That's just how long, non-episodic shows go though; you've gotta wait through the shorter, more simplistic arcs to get to the good stuff. Finish the tutorial, so to speak.
Art: 8
The art in general is very good, though the cgi can be a bit jarring at times, at least if you're bothered by that sort of thing.
Some of the character designs are a bit... just not my taste. Some of them are fantastic, but others have weird colour palettes, unappealing placements of face markings, odd hair and eyebrows.
Also this is one of the shows where you can tell who is important by how much thought is put into their clothes. I was really taken aback initially by how they taken the time to give all the characters detailed haori and kimono, but that fell apart pretty as soon as the unimportant characters came around. I know it's cheaper, but man...
Sound: 9
I'm not very picky about soundtracks, so all I can say is no complaints. OP and ED really grew on me by the end.
Character: 7
It was quite relieving to have a shounen main character that I actually enjoy, but still, this is the category where I have the most complaints. Firstly: some of the characters are just... a lot. Especially the villains and some of the higher level demon slayers. Just flamboyant and edgy and weird. A lot of their powers too are just... maybe trying to hard to be original?
Remarkably I don't mind the sidekicks Zenitsu and Inosuke so much, largely because I just enjoy Tanjiro's pained facial expressions whenever they get up to shenanigans. They're great foils. I also appreciate how Zenitsu makes you go "how is HE one of the half dozen people who survived the entrance test?!?" but then the more you learn it actually makes sense. Wow: questions asked and answered without a monologue, nice.
And then we get to the main character's sister Nezuko. I like her, but for how much she's around, I'd like to get a bit more out of her than just being some object of Tanjiro's motivation who occasionally pops out for a deus ex machina.
But like I said, I am a fan of Tanjiro; I appreciate his struggle between the irrational boiling emotion that drives him and the cool focus that he actually needs to succeed.
In conclusion:
I really expect Demon Slayer to be one of those nice slow burn shounen anime that takes a while to get going and gets really fantastic once its foundations are set. Well rather, the foundations ARE set now, and I expect subsequent seasons to follow the quality of the later story arcs. Here's hoping for more character development, more Nezuko, and more of that good-good episode 19 stuff.

Art - 9 - Everything is quite well drawn. I have no complaints.
Character - 7 - I'm pretty easy to please as far as character development goes, but I often had trouble telling characters apart
Story - 8 - Now this is where things get difficult. I think that the story presented here is a solid 8; it was very good. However, it was incredibly poorly executed and hard to follow. There are so many instances where the reader is presented images with no context. I can't tell if the author is neglecting to include critical information where it matters, or if they are failing to

execute some kind of plot twist, but the result is that I was constantly jumping back pages to see if I had missed something (which, of course, I had not). I feel like a lot of this manga could have been saved with more narration, like if the characters would say what they think is going on.
The author is also very bad at conveying where certain things are happening within the facility. For example, without spoiling too much, towards the end of the manga the workers are being pursued by a threat and it's a very fast-paced situation. But then all of the sudden they sit down and start planning stuff and everything's chill for like a week, so we're left to assume they've gotten to a room that the threat can't get to? But then people seem to be able to go get things from other rooms without a hint of worry. And then the threat appears again in the main room we thought was safe with no explanation of how. They just completely fail to establish where the threat is and why they're safe in some areas.
Overall - 5 - I found that this manga had nice art and a gripping plot, so I can't outright call it bad, but I still would never suggest anyone read it.
