[A Little spoiler, just in the beginning.]
"OMG, I Want To Eat Your Pancreas, a generic title to be a post-apocalyptic zombie movie"
Contrary to the public belief, I Want To Eat Your Pancreas is remotely related to that. It's actually quite the opposite. Set up in a high school drama in our familiar world.
A movie that centers on a male character that I can personally relate to. A loner who is withdrawn and detached from the world by choice. Living for no one but himself and his books.
His life changes when he finds a diary that belongs to his classmate, Sakura, who is actually the complete

opposite of him. It's revealed that this lively girl is hiding a secret, she's dying of pancreatic disease and doesn't want anyone to know about to maintain her social life. She chose to spend her last few months with the protagonist and promises to keep her secret.
The story doesn't seem distinctive or unique, and I can safely say it's predictable. However, I Want To Eat Your Pancreas executes the story in a powerful way that resonates with a lot of people.
You know the feeling of what's coming next in a movie, but you still can't prevent it from strongly pulling your heartstrings and resonating with you. That's the type of feeling that I Want To Eat Your Pancreas draws out from you. A similar feeling when I watch A Silent Voice and Violet Evergarden.
All in all, it's a great anime.
