I was disappointed when I found out this anime is going to follow the "stuck in an MMORPG" formula... and I was relieved when it proceeded to pretty much forget all about it past the first episode. Instead, it tries to explore what people in a fantasy world would really feel and how they would really act.
The first thing you should know before starting this anime is that it's slow. Very slow. I, personally, enjoyed this leisurely pace. It allows the world and characters to feel more real, as we get to see their daily lives, and not just the most important events.

Owari no Seraph is a simple shounen that does nothing new, but it does what it does quite well.
Its biggest strength is in it's characters; most of whom I liked. I found its story to be very compelling. It really had that "just one more episode" effect. It is, however, a fairly typical and unsurprising story. Art, animation, and sound design are all fair but mostly uninspiring. Fight scenes are kind of sluggish but generally interesting.
