I find it especially brilliant to manage to come up with such an original idea: an architect of the Ancient Roman Empire who travels to modern Japan and learns how to build better thermal baths.
The idea is terrific, and the realization kept up with it, that's why Thermae Romae Novae is a breath of fresh air in the isekai/time travel sphere.
I am particularly enthusiastic about this series, since I am not just Italian, but also Roman; although the main focus of the series is to explore and celebrate japanese thermal traditions rather than Ancient Rome, I couldn't help but rejoice watching a job well
...
done: I was very happy to see that both the author of the manga and the people who worked to the series were meticulously precise in recreating roman traditions, society, and history.
In particular I appreciated the differentiation between roman people and japanese people, in terms of art: usually, in anime, the only distinction made to portray foreign people is to change hair and eye colour; while here everything is different, from the bone structure, to skin colour, but also eye shape, hair texture and so on and so forth...
Apart from these little (but still important) details, in general I can say this show amazed me: I rediscovered the ancient traditions of my ancestors and learnt many new things about a different culture. And I am convinced that this is the main focus of the show: to paint familiar images (roman) next to exotic ones (japanese), explaining their differences and similarities (probably for japanese watchers this mechanism works the other way around).
So I recommend users to not expect anything outside this concept: no excessive narration of the protagonist's background, no deep characterization, few to none importance given to sub plots... It is a simple show, with just one purpose, namely the one above.
This doesn't certainly mean that these 11 episodes must be regarded as short History lessons, indeed the show begins soon to be very amusing and funny: thinking about it, how hilarious would it be to see someone from the ancient world trying to understand all the new and complex mechanisms of this world and seeing them freak out every time? Basically, it is the funniest thing ever.
I'd like also to mention the short clips at the end of each episode, in which the author of the manga explores thermal bath culture in Japan; it's good to see how things I've only seen in 2D look in the real world, very interesting :) .

Finally, a breath of fresh air.
Tokyo Revengers is the 2021 emblem of a well made production. Starting from the source: an amazing manga; then adding a perfect narrative technique, outstanding soundtracks and good animation, there we have a work of art.
Of course, it doesn't lack mistakes, such as plot holes and some unlikely events; but we all know a show doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be perfect for us.
And in Tokyo Revengers I found a good show, with a completely original story, a good character development and that feeling of attraction towards the plot and what comes next.
In particular I appreciate
...
the protagonist's personality, describable as coward, lazy and whiny, which also means plausible and realistic. Then, when he understands he is the only one who can protect his loved ones, he unleashes a strong will power which will lead him to the right path. But while in other anime this changing determines also a change in personality, here he remains the same crybaby he was at the beginning, he doesn't magically find courage, he is simply pushed into situations for the sake of others; which is something I deeply respect: being true to one's self regardless of the events.
Apart from him, other characters can result a little less realistic (I was shocked when I realized they're all in middle school), but well developed on that line; but more than that I find them particular and amusing.
In conclusion, a show capable of standing out, as few others can.

When talking about BLEACH there's always a heated debate going on.
People who have watched the show complain about many things, from the character development, to the matter of the fillers, to the lack of necessary explanation for certain events and lots more...
I admit some to be legitimate, but there are some other issues that may be caused by various sorts of misunderstandings.
For instance, some people complain about the numerous fillers that break the original story line; I rather think they are necessary, since a long run show like this needs to be split, otherwise it would be too much to handle. Fillers are

fun (I said what I said ;)), and a great way to feel less overwhelmed by the heavy and thick plot.
Obviously I am talking as someone who watched it during the last year all at once, people who watched it while it was airing have all reason to complain.
Then since we are talking about a thick plot, it is true that some situations, events and systems are not well explained, as well as some characters' backgrounds, and it's kind of frustrating, because everything else is so great that you just miss that one little piece to make it perfect.
Needless to say that this happens because there are just too many characters, too many stories, too many details squished in one single show.
Thing is, it doesn't matter how annoyed you are by this chaotic system, you will fall in love with those details, that big bunch of characters, those complex arcs, ending up wanting those 366 episodes to never end; because basically, besides their abundance, all these features are iconic: amusing characters, no plot holes, A LOT OF PLOTWISTS, great fights, amazing soundtrack and themes and so on.
BLEACH became quickly one of my favourites, despite not being flawless, it kept me in suspense, made me laugh, also cry sometimes, it always got me hoping to see more, and if it made me feel all that, it means that (at least to me) it is a piece of work worth of recognition.

Magic Kaito 1412 has been a bolt from the blue.
I started watching it since I was in the mood for something light, easy and slightly childish; I thought that this show was perfect since it's a spin-off of Detective Conan, and actually I got no more and no less than what I expected. But somehow I got to enjoy it more that I thought.

be compared to other 10s I've scored, but since I am here to point out a personal opinion about how this anime made me feel, and not to highlight technical issues, let me tell you what I really think.
Let's say there are two types of shows you like:
1. The show you like because you know exactly what's going to happen, and you like it. (Comfort shows)
2. The show you like because it's full of surprises and you can't wait to know what happens next.
Well, it felt as if Magic Kaito 1412 mixed 1 and 2 together: since the beginning, I couldn't stop perceiving the classical warm and cosy feeling you get while watching your comfort show, but if I had to guess what this show was about before watching it, there's no way I could have predicted the actual plot; it is low key very surprising, also because I have no recollection of the original show, Detective Conan.
Basically, this anime results to be very bright, both for being clever than for being lively and clear.
The more I watched, the more I felt good about it, the more I enjoyed it. And that's also why I was able to overcome all its flaws and bring out its values, such as the sound (you'll get addicted to the intro/Kaito's theme, I swear) the mysterious and original plot, the smoothness of the scenes, the easy going mood it sets, the reasoning and cunning behind each crime, the slight romance, and so on...
That is why I can't help but score a 10.
While trying to recover from this, I look forward to starting the original Special series, hoping it's as good as this one. :)

It's pretty unusual for me to score a show before finishing it, I honestly believe that someone can't express a proper opinion on something that's still unfinished.
You have to get through it all to give a reasonable point of view.
I've always thought so, until I started Black Clover.
This show occupied a small part of my life for the longest time (actually it was the first time for me to catch up with a long running show like this one) and it became so usual, familiar to me, that it felt wrong not to score it.
It felt like ages since I started it, and that's what

made me think of it as something I knew perfectly; so I scored it right away.
But despite having broken my "rule", I didn't regret once the score I gave it in the past. Today Black Clover is still a solid 10/10 for me, which is why I find absurd the general score it has.
Yes, I know about the critics on the animation.
Yes, I heard about how it resembles other shounen anime.
While there isn't much to say about animation, as it clearly lacks in details, I just want to say that there are aspects more valuable in a show, such as the content (by the way, animation improves a lot in the latter episodes).
Speaking about the content, let me tell you a secret: all shounen resemble each other. (Really shocking, right?)
It's only normal to find similarities between shows who belong to the same genre, plus it's not like Black Clover is the only one which seems inspired by some other work. But you know what? This is fine, since one's opinion should be objective on this: you shouldn't score a show basing your judgement on how much it looks like another show, but only on whether you enjoyed it or not, and if we are talking about enjoyment, this is THE show: it has great characters, a complex but well developed story, light and heavy themes, and the OPs and endings as just so good you are surely going to save them on Spotify later.
I won't lie, BC has its flaws, but I think that a show doesn't need to be perfect to be good, and this one is defective, but more than good.

At first, I thought of Fruits Basket as a simple slice of life anime, judging by the plot it seemed like the main feature of the show (people turning into animals) would overwhelm the entire course of the story, leaving no space to other developments (romance, drama, background, psychological features...), which I personally think are needed in this kind of stories.
Actually it's something very common: how many times have you watched an anime hoping for a romantic flap between two characters who were OBVIOUSLY meant to be, but didn't happen since there was too much focus on the main course?
Well, the first episodes of
...
FB surely give this feeling, but you'll be surprised of how stealthily the subplot enters the story. And little by little, it takes on the whole show, revealing plot twists, psychological truths, hidden sorrows and many other things that just make sense on top of the main feature.
So, I started watching this show thinking it was nothing but another slice of life, but it actually turned out to be one of the best ones I've ever seen.
Thanks also to the realization: because of the peculiarity of the plot, it would be easy to mess up the story.
Here too, how many times have you started an anime because of the intriguing plot, just to end up watching complete nonsense?
The realization, along with the creation of good characters, is fundamental for a successful show, and FB managed it perfectly, despite the large possibility to mess it up.
Moreover the characters are almost addicting, both for their knotty personalities and the soft and enjoyable animation.
We're talking about maybe the best shoujo/drama out there today, so give it a try. :)

It's been a few days since I finished Nana, and the reason why I'm writing a review now is because I needed some time to recover completely.
This show could be described in numerous ways, but nothing seems to fit, although I could say that Nana is an astonishing, slick, breathtaking, painful, sore, sensitive, empathetic, realistic and fine show, it still wouldn't be enough.
Truth is that Nana reached and pushed buttons I wasn't even aware of, it pulled out things that I didn't know were inside of me. That's why I needed recover.
I'm convinced that its strength lies in the realism of the story, of course
...
it's not like it could happen to anyone to get in touch with famous bands, but besides that, all the events that occur, are simply something that the public could experience in real life. But the extraordinary part comes now: we are always moved by tragic stories, and sad endings, but only if we get to know the characters; nobody (or almost nobody) would cry for someone who dies in the first episode of a show. So how come I was moved by ordinary events, no matter the episode?
The only reason I managed to find is that the characters in Nana have a deeply rooted humanity, they all show bad and good sides, being therefore impossible to label as good or bad guys (unlike so many other anime). They rejoice and have fun, they cry and suffer, they overthink and have guilt feelings, they even express unknown but somehow comprehensible emotions, and the public could just watch them as if they were their dearest friend, a coworker, a classmate, a neighbor, because they are crystal clear, they are veritable, they are human.
This also implies that if you start liking someone in Nana you probably accept everything about him/her, including flaws, bad behaviors, habits, and attitudes; which is something I profoundly respect.
Apart from that, I noticed that unlike other shows, where the characters drag the story, here, it's the story that rattles the characters into a chaotic storm of events, not letting them choose for themselves, trapping them into a reality without freedom, tearing them apart and convincing them of falsehood.
Basically, it's all in the way they deal with this cold and cruel fate; which seems to be the true and only villain there.
In conclusion, get ready for this stressful, sentimental, engaging, moving and painfully great anime.
PS: I gave it a 9/10 just because the anime, just like the manga indeed, is left unfinished, and I won't be satisfied until it is. :(

Shows like this one aren't easy to find.
K-on!!, just like its prequel, has an exquisite realization.
It is the simplest series you could ever think about, no action, no drama, no romantic love, no magic; just five ordinary schoolgirls who live their last year in the same high school.
But behind that normality there's so much more: the stunning friendship you could only get once in a lifetime, the good music, the nostalgic feeling of spending together the last days of school, the pain of leaving the club and moving on...
Keep some tissues by your side, and get ready to experience high school life once
...
again, filled with music, adventure, and lots of laughs that makes this show a work of art. :)

Before even telling what I think of Norn9, I want to make clear that this anime is based on a videogame, it means that it can almost be considered as part of a genre of its own: these kind of anime are often a bit bumbling, they may skip some passages that could make the story clearer, they frequently have plain characters, and for some reasons the animation is always on point.

can say I enjoyed it.
Sure, it has some of the features I wrote up there, such as some little plot holes, not too deep characters, and a complicated story, but considering the overall, it was as if the story took over the whole show, captivating entirely the public's attention, making it forget about all the little issues seen mostly in the first episodes.
The story itself is brilliant, indeed perfect for a game, but too big for a 12 episode anime (one of the main reasons these shows all have a low score).
I'll be honest, after watching Norn9 I had to look for some more information, to add some missing details and understand better what happened, but it's also true that the most important thing the anime shows (the reset) is unexpectedly well explained.
In conclusion I believe that this anime compared to the other game based ones is a bit better, maybe not a masterpiece but neither trash. :)

Looking for something that can put you in a good mood? Senryuu Shoujo is THE show.
Although being very short (10 minutes episodes, 12 episodes in total) Senryuu Shoujo fills perfectly every single moment of its episodes.
It's a light and funny show, very well balanced in themes, bright in the animation and brilliant in the story; maybe not too realistic, but indeed enjoyable to its very end.
The characters are great, even if not well developed (due probably to the lack of screen time), they are easily perceivable. Also they include hidden gems such as Eiji, a breath of fresh air compared to other male lead characters
...
in this kind of show.
The only 2 things that upset me of this anime are the lack of other regular male characters and the fact that there isn't a season 2 (yet).
