Both plots have similar twists to them (though the main ideas are different). One centers around the traumas of losing someone with who you couldn't make amends with while the other talks about the repercussions of death towards those who were close to the person. Both animes take the concept of losing people and put it into a story perspective. They're both really good animes that are heart-wrenching and tear a piece of your soul out. While Ano Hana focuses on multiple protagonists and the aspects of how death affected the relationships of the once close friend group, Your Lie in April takes the similar concept and turns it into a completely different story. I won't go too deep into it to avoid spoilers but if you enjoyed either then I am 100% sure you would be interested in the other.
