Definitely a 2017 Oscar candidate, though pretty sure would lose to Moana. Though one thing I would assure you, Moana and other Hollywood made animations maybe are more superior on quality. But Anime will always win when it comes to storyline.

Story: reading the synopsis, i honestly thought this would be a body swapping, gender swapping comedy. I didn't really anticipate the tragedy and plot twist, and it really bugged me since I was hoping for a comedy genre. That's why I gave this anime a 10 on its storyline, for the unanticipated plot twist that quickly turned comedy, to drama, to romance, to tragedy, to ... supernatural, then back again to comedy, and to romance.

Art: The best part of this anime if you're talking about its art ofcourse the landscape. The detail of the shrine and the mountain is amazing.

Sound: Perfect for JPop lovers and I'm not one of them so I don't really care about the music.

Overall: A must see. Non Ghibli masterpiece and would definitely be a classic.

First of all, if you haven't watched this but you had watched Black Swan, then try to forget Black Swan or you'll be trapped on Black Swan atmosphere like I did when I watched it for the first time. Yes, BS might be inspired by Perfect Blue, but the storyline itself is really different, some scenes are related or similar but no, this is not BS. You need to sit down and relax while you're watching this or you'll stuck in a confusion, like I did due to thinking how PB is similar to BS.

But anyway, enough with Black Swan, Perfect Blue is a masterpiece, ... thriller fans would enjoy this even you've never watched anime before. Exactly no drama, this is why the storyline is fast and to the point, thriller all the way. Some scenes are quite graphic, while nudity, violence, and gore might be not bothering anyone, rape scenes might be not enjoyable, but the main character face her rapist in a proud way, so feminists need not to rant about it.

It's just for a beautiful anime, I was hoping a more memorable music, but no. I'm not sure whether the story itself so enjoyable that I forgot about the music, or the music itself not really remarkable, I didn't remember wether it has a soundtrack or not.

Overall, you gotta watch this. This is a masterpiece, like Spirirted Away, this is something an anime fans should watch at least once in their life time.

Even if you don't like/watch anime, I assure you Le Portrait De Petite Cossette would blow your mind. Very mature and serious, something that is hard to find on anime, but still has that wild fantasy atmosphere with demons and art that could only be found in anime (and of course that Lolita character which, again, could only be found in anime) so both anime lover and non-lover could enjoy this OVA very much (yeah it's not anime, but OVA, only 3 episodes).

Other than beautiful and and wild art, Yuki Kajiura as the composer of this anime's soundtrack had done an amazing job by composing ... a Gothic, solemn, dark, and classic European sounded like music, but manage to add Japanese characteristic to it. I downloaded the OST. too and fell in love with it, Miss Kajiura is a genius, Houseki of course being the best.

While very much enjoyable, the storyline might be a little bit difficult to follow thus you need to watch it without blinking your eyes, especially on the last episode. And seems like Eiri and Cossette were the only characters in here while the other girls were additional, maybe so it could have more than just two characters. They don't add much to the story though.

Overall, this is a must wathc for anyone who loves something dark, Gothic, horror, psychological, yet romantic.
