Battle Royale is a manga I recommend to anyone looking for something to read in the thriller/horror genre. It's not for everyone, and is extremely explicit (both sexually and violently) throughout, but it perfectly achieves what it sets out to do: invest you in, and horrify you with, its story.

Gakuen Alice is a coming of age story that manages to be funny, intense, and fantastical all at once. If you want to go on wholesome, yet thrilling adventure with a group of kids navigating a magical world (embedded in our reality), then this is a great manga to get lost in.

Trigun Maximum is an experience even more than it is a story. You will laugh, cry, get angry... It's an emotional rollercoaster if you're ready to invest in its world/narrative.
ART (10/10) Some of the panels in this manga are absolutely breathtaking. Nightow uses high contrast imagery incredibly well to create graphic sequences that really pull you in.
