Rating a seven for preliminary reading, and will return when this manga has more chapters! Due to this manga being so, so new, I am only going to discuss what little I have read from the translated updates so far and just go off of that. I feel this manga will go places for me, so I am very intently looking for it.

Considering a description and no characters are up for this work yet, I will leave a short synopsis for everyone as well as a short character introduction. After that, I will say my current thoughts on the work, and will return when a ... number of chapters have been released for a further edit of this review. Let's get into it!

This manga roughly translates to "My Sweet Girlfriend", or something along those lines. I am not fluent in Japanese exactly, so I am going off what little I know.

Plot summary and brief character synopsis: This manga is about a twenty year old girl named Mai, who works for at a sweets cafe, and who is first introduced as a girl who was freshly dumped by her ex-girlfriend. Mai is depressed about this, and is shown to make sweets when she is depressed and just overall in her free time. Shortly after this rundown, Riri Kurosaki, or Lily as translated into English, is introduced as a newcomer at the sweets cafe where Mai works. Mai instantly falls for her looks, and her undeniable charm right off the bat. She cannot figure out what about Riri makes her so instantly obsessed, but she doesn't think much of it and just continues to stay flustered every time she's in the same breathing space as Riri. Riri is half succubus, and half human, and she feasts upon the sweet feelings of humans. This leads her to have an instant, mutual obsession with Mai. After Mai is incredibly kind and considerate to her, Riri for the first time in her twenty years of living, knows she is experiencing her first love, and confesses to Mai. Shenanigans ensue from there!

My feelings and thoughts:
It has been such an incredibly long time since I have been this excited for a yuri, especially a comedy! I really enjoyed the two chapters that are out right now, and have formed a fondness for it already. I hope it can continue on the path that its going as it gave me a lot of smiles at how silly and cute Mai and Riri's relationship is. Its already on my favorites list, so I hope it can stay there. The art is beautiful, and the plot is a newer kind I have yet to see done a lot from my own yuri reading. Looking forward to coming back to this review! I rated it a seven for now, as I said before, there was not much to go off of, but I did enjoy it a ton personally.

I’ll leave a review while I’m preliminary right now into the adaption, and once I finish, I’ll make a section where I critique when I’m finished watching the series when it’s done airing as well. I’ll try to leave a review without bias and as informational as possible!

Preliminary review: I’ve been keeping up with Tian Guan Cifu since the manhua has started being translated, so I’ve been a fan for many years of this series. It was my first real dip into Chinese BL, as well as Chinese manhua to begin with, it’s very much been my favorite since. I haven’t had a chance ... to pick up the books yet, so I cannot speak for the literature that relates to this adaption. But I solely believe this second season is MUCH better done than the first. The animation is quite better, the pace, and the understanding is a lot more smoother and easier to digest this time around as well. I was incredibly disappointed by season one, with some of the designs being drastically different than what I was used to seeing in the manhua, or in promotional art, and with how the pacing of the story was being shown. I had waited an incredibly long time for the adaption, and was hopeful that season two would be much better. Which so far - it is. I will say that I recommend either reading up on the books or the manhua before watching the donghua, as you might get really confused. My complaint with the adaptation is that they sort of expect you to know whats going on, or so it seems, so you definitely might be confused as a first time watcher. Season two picks up exactly where the special off, so I was also very pleased with that. Minus the characters being changed to look very different again, I have no complaints thus far into the second season.

For a one shot, I relatively enjoyed this. It was one of those stories that are as good as they can get with being so short. I've noticed in my time reading specifically these short chaptered same sex love manga that there's always a character I like the personality of a lot, and one whom I think falls incredibly short. In this case. I was shocked that I did not really like the class president in this, and rather liked the story behind the school player more. The school player essentially feels like people only like him for his face, and nothing else... which is ... true, up until he meets the class prez. His story and his feelings throughout the manga, at least I feel like, were the only ones with real development and I thought his pining after the class president was really wholesome and cute. The story as a whole was just an eh for me, but if you are looking for something cute, midly fluffy, and fast to read. then this BL is for you.

I read this when I was on a Yuri kick recently. I was searching for one shots to read and stumbled upon this. I wanted to leave a review since the others have been left almost 4-5 years ago. I am giving a fresh POV into this story. Note this is only what I think, so do not let this crowd your judgment for reading a story like this.
I want to say at first I really enjoyed this story the first three chapters. I found it incredibly tasteful and impactful despite being so short, but it kind of got ruined for me when Tomo-san slept ... with her stepmother. I get being lonely, and it being a common trope, but it just felt like this story could've done without it. I know Tomo-san is a complex individual with her own problems, but that being her "defining one" made me a bit annoyed.
I really believe the main character, Ai-san, could have done so much better with finding a first love different than Tomo-san. I think that Ai's development was beautiful and that she could've turned into whomever she wanted to be without her romantic encounter with Tomo. And the whole ending with being interested in Tomo-san's sibling was completely dumb. Overall, the story was eh. If you like lukewarm stuff like this, then this is your story. Just do not expect too much.

I thought I would leave a review on this manga since it’s been a few years since it’s been reviewed. Give a fresh POV, if you will. The first thing that caught my eye about this manga was the incredibly beautiful art style. It’s simple, kinda nostalgic and overall beautiful. Izumo is living proof this mangaka is a genius designer. I’m normally not a fan of fantasy tropes like this, but this BL was very wholesome and worth it. It’s short and to the point, and the story didn’t miss any marks. I rated it a seven for what it was because the story was ... simply short and I enjoyed it a lot. It’s a great rainy day read or something to pick up when you particularly don’t know what you want to start with. Characters are an 8, plot is a 7, and the pacing and art is a 8. Great story, and a refreshing read. I’m happy with what it is, and will recommend this to people.

This manga is so good, and this is not coming from a biased perspective. As someone who loves reading Gyaru x any girl here kind of GL, this one is done so tastefully and so cute. I started reading this manga when it started uploading through Twitter and I am more than elated to see it here, as well as starting to get its own physical copies. I recommend this GL to anyone looking for something light hearted but also feel good. It’s a “feet kicker” as I like to call it. Some of the moments you just have to squeal and roll around, because ... they’re so cute!!

The characters are a solid 10/10 for me. They have a depth to them that just keeps getting better every chapter, and the way two opposing opposites bond over something so meaningful to both of them is so cute!

Plot is done a lot, with a girl thinking another girl is a guy and then forming a crush on the masculine presenting girl, ultimately to figure out said guy was a girl since the start. I kind of love reading these tropes a lot lately, because though it’s a really done over plot, it doesn’t get old. Especially in this story. However, if you are tired of this kind of plot, I wouldn’t recommend this story for you.

Them bonding over music sort of reminds me a little of Given, just in a very much less tragic way. It’s sweeter and fluffier. Overall a solid 11/10. Please give this story some love!

I was not going to leave a review on this, because I cannot believe I willingly read something with a sibling complex, but all the other reviews are from years ago. So, here is a present day review in the lovely year of 2023.

I tend to just quickly browse over works from the early 2000s, especially the shoujo demographic, as its my favorite. I assume I added this one because the cover art is just my style, but I was so incredibly wrong. I love one shots and I never have minded fast paced one shots, however this one was completely weird. If you like ... sibling complex plots then this story is right for you. Both the brother and sister have complexes for once another, and it seems to me the sister is very obviously way younger than her brother.

The story is incredibly easy to understand and follow. When the younger sister, who is essentially in love with the elder brother and wants to be his bride, learns that he has a girlfriend, she feels betrayed because she is no longer his "number one." She wishes for someone who looks precisely like her brother to be her love counterpart since she feels upset that her brother has a girlfriend (cue man who looks exactly like brother but wears glasses entering picture). The two siblings who are in love with one another get envious of their lovers, just like in any other sibling complex work, and that is essentially all there is to this story. As anticipated for the 2008 work. If you like bro-sis coms, this one is very quick to the point and for you.

Art: 6/10 - Classic shoujo style, I LOVE it, however it feels that this work was a bit rushed and made it look sloppy.
Characters: 1/10 - I have nothing good to say about ANY of these characters..

I'm astounded that such a modern story has such a small community and lacks some traction. But that doesn't make it any less beautiful or great; rather, it's brilliance waiting to be discovered by someone like me, who suffers from many of the same ailments as Rika-kun. I came across this recommendation by chance on TikTok and added it to my reading list after only reading one panel.
If you are new to this story, I will do my best to give it a glowing review as a fellow transgender person similar to the main character!

Rika is a transgender FTM (female to male) who longs for ... a sense of belonging. He lives with dysphoria and the sickness of being misgendered and having to present as a cis girl on a daily basis. He lives with a mother who is aware of his transgender status but pretends to ignore it out of desperation to keep her son as his biological gender. He makes an unlikely friend with a fellow troubled (cis-gendered) boy as a result of his constant arguing with his mother. This is a story about maturing, discovering one's identity, and, most importantly, finding love and acceptance.

I will recommend this story to anyone. It is so lovely and so heart wrenchingly good. Tugs on my heart strings in just the right ways. "After School Mate" がんばって~!

EDIT:
Coming back to say I’ve finished this manga almost two years later. I think it was so worth taking forever to finish because the feelings that I had before couldn’t compare to how I felt finishing it. This story has a very painfully realistic feeling about the characters, and how one could react when someone you know (or meet) presents one way, but prefers something completely other than what you’d expect. As a trans person, the journey this story takes you on is a rough but very beautiful one. Especially when coming to gauge the friendships and complex relationships the MC has. This story is deserving of its score from me all these years later. I genuinely implore anyone hesitant to read this to take this as your sign! This manga is super well done and so worth the rather quick read. It’s so wholesome to see what a work with only a limited amount of chapters can do better than some mangas with over 30+ with the same kind of plot. Very well done!

I am a bit sad this manga seems like an utter flop, so from today on I will be a shooter for this obscure, cute little story. I am a mahou shoujo whore after all!
In a strange way, this manga is very feel good and magical girl perfection! The older MC female, Ruu, is an angel who came down to Earth to learn what it means to be a true angel and to be kind, and she becomes acquainted with the younger MC female, Miruku. Before you think it, yes Miruku is named after milk. She is the cutest nine year old (?) with ... the most obscure name. The plot itself made sense to take place in an elementary school as it was very innocent and pure at its core. The angel plot with mentions of heaven and stuff kind of caught me off guard though, but Ruu was so adorable that I just could not turn away! The art is everything I miss about early 2000's shoujo and I wish they still made the characters as "kira kira" and sparkling as they did in this story.
Mangaka Yuu-san was very cute with their notes in the manga and was very thankful for what seems like the small amount of readers this particular work of theirs got. It made me a bit sad people were over the top when they shared the same name with a character who was shined in a negative light for 0.5 seconds, and Yuu-san felt the need to deeply apologize. I thought the character, Kana-chan, was incredibly adorable and had the best part of the entire story~! I would say Kana-chan was my favorite! <3 The small plot was so wholesome and I felt myself smiling reading this manga. I wonder now if it is too obscure for me to buy psychically?

I'll do my best to grow a fandom for this manga! I enjoyed it very much!

Art 9/10 - SO nostalgic.
Plot 7/10 or less - Very obscure and hastened as Yuu-san said in the author's notes! Overall cute and unique idea!
Characters - 6/10 - Most characters really had no depth and were just elementary aged children. Miruku's love interest (?) if you could say that was very cute design wise. Kana was the character with the most personality, however and she rates an 8/10 for me.

I thought I would give a more updated review as the last review was 2017. I think the other review was kind to give this story an 8, so I'll delve more into my opinion and takeaways.
I was sad that this manga did not have a bigger fan base as it is so cute and the embodiment of what romance was like in its season/year of publishing. It is short, but it is genuinely a great read. I would not go as far as to say this manga will be really memorable for those who really enjoy shoujo/romance manga. It is a fast read, really ... easy to comprehend, and the plot isn't too excessive (some of the characters are a bit extra), but the story itself is simple and sweet.
More things I can praise about this story is that it wasn't predictable in the least. The second female lead was a character type I really wasn't expecting, and I really enjoyed the fact both she and the MC female shared the same name. It really must've made MC male's life heck to be falling for two Haruka's.
My main complaint about this story is the MC female, Haruka. She is incredibly adorable and kind, as suited for her age of 15. However, she is incredibly naive and a bit selfish towards the MC male. She wasn't understanding or really that caring of how her feelings impacted him, and kind of felt like she was pushing herself onto him despite seeing his obvious internal struggles as well as real-life hardship.

Overall this manga is great and deserves a seven from me at best. If you are looking for a quick read with sweet characters and a happy ending, this is your story!
