Kinetograph is an anime based off an otome visual novel.
So, first and foremost, I think it's fair to say that it's more "promotional material" than "anime".
That's the reason why most otoge-anime aren't ~good~: the plot jumps around to cover the different routes, the characters seems flimsy. Fans don't see enough of what they love and random viewers don't understand what's going on. It's no surprise, considering these +30h games are adapted into 4h series. Kinetograph itself is adapted into a 1h40 run.
For those reasons, I try to watch otoge-anime with an open mind. In Kinetograph's case, I expected a sneak peek that would hype myself

up to read the VN. With it being an Otomate story + set in the Taishou era, I thought I'd enjoy immensely. I was reeeeally wrong.
The art was fine, the opening and ending songs were pretty nice, but the love interests...
Episode 1 was HARD to sit through. Yes, it's the Taishou era and yes, the Miyanomori are the rich upper class, while Haru/MC is *just* a maid. But I figured that, with this being an otome, we would be given reasons to like the brothers? To ship/romance them? Instead we get this snob bunch making Haru/MC's life hard for no reason at all and calling her "trash" ALL THE TIME. Susumu seems to be the gentle one out of the six, but he's basically nonexistant... Tae, the tsundere co-worker, seemed like a love interest much more than any of the brothers.
Episode 2 tries to make up for lost time and adds a bunch of silly bits and some romantic (?) scenes but, honestly, at this point I couldn't care less about it. The silver lining was that it did hint at a bigger political issue the game probably explores, but Haru/MC didn't seem involved in it at all, which was a disappointment.
In the end, I couldn't enjoy it one bit (even more knowing the score for this is higher than some of the other otoge-anime).
Before writing this, I did see some positive reviews of the game, but I figure that's all the more reason NOT to watch the anime - your interest might be snuffed out, like mine was.
