Bakemonogatari is an adaptation of one book from a series of light novels written by Nisio Isin. The story follows a boy named Koyomi Araragi and his encounters with several girls that are involved with "ghosts" or supernatural entities.
Bakemonogatari has a solid, straight-foward story. The anime is broken up into several arcs, each one introducing a new girl and how she came to be affected by an entity. The first couple minutes of Baccano! didn't really grab my attention so I considered watching something else at the time, but I'm really glad that I watched the entire series because it has become one of my absolute favorite anime.
The story is set in America during the 1930s and is shown in a non-linear manner. This may cause it to seem very confusing at first, but the pieces fall into place as the episodes progress.
