There's a lot to hate about Gate and it certainly has a lot of flaws but good luck expressing them on your way to being charmed the hell out of by this anime.
First, it's definitely a new approach. The typical NEET/otaku about to go into a fantasy world... only our typical NEET otaku also happens to be an exemplary member of Japanese SDF (military). This has the same flaw as "Irregulars" anime where the main good guy is just too strong or too good at what he does. And we're given lame excuses to how they become like that... but rather than spiting the anime
...
for these flaws, I found myself charmed by them.
I also specifically REALLY hated the blonde elf girl. Not only was she both boring and predictable, she got incredibly annoying in the next season at least for me. She's literally there to be a simple eye candy for the elf fanboys.
Thing is I believe this anime is literally propaganda to try to get the male youth wasting away their lives as otakus to join the SDF. This is definitely a shounen but it doesn't play like one; shounen generally have their characters constantly one up a stronger villain every arc without much substance. This however is different. The "protagonist" side is the one with modern military. They can literally take over and wipe out this fantasy world in 1 day if they wanted to. Diplomacy, approaches to unknown culture, and interactions? These are all realistic. Sure it's fantasy world with fantasy characters... but the first few episodes are so identical to Generation Kill and their journey of sitting in humvees through Iraq invasion.

TBH the art and sound was beautiful but they don't factor into my overall score.
Naruto Shippuuden suffers the same flaws its prequel faces without even talking about the fillers; it's got too many flashbacks. Having 3+ flashbacks of the same scenes that just aired last episode is not a good idea; you're just wasting air time and so obviously saving budget at the cost of quality.
Next, Naruto suffered from TOO MANY CHARACTER flaw like Fairy Tail does in that it starts to become distracting as the focus is taken off the protagonists and onto the side characters. Shippuuden however ADDS MORE characters to the show;
...
most of which won't even be all that influential or significant to the story. They're literally just there to fulfill a key scene or fill a vacant spot.
Naruto has a bad trope of escalation tactics and using growth of power as indication that a character is growing internally. It is certainly entertaining in the mindless shounen department but in a substantial review judging its overall quality, Naruto doesn't hold up well.

Naruto is exactly the epitome of what's wrong with shounen anime/manga the same way Bleach and Dragon Ball were flawed. YES I realize these three anime, however flaws they may have, are iconic and staple mainstream anime... but if you stopped to think about the story REALLY, they're not very good.
Naruto starts off strong and likable as a series altogether. The show however uses a bad trope that ruins most shounen stories; escalation and one upping the previous arc with a stronger enemy. And the protagonist becoming stronger by rinse/repeating what they did previous arcs is how they show character growth? So dumb.
I know
...
most people complain about fillers but I don't even need to. Even without the fillers, this anime gets it so horribly wrong. By the end, they lost sight of what this anime was even about in the beginning. Sure he wants to be Hokage but honestly that's so vague and general in the grand scheme of things going around our character. Also how this anime holds your hands like a baby? Do we really need a flashback to the last episode 3 times in one episode?
Naruto is trash; there's a lot to like about Naruto but ultimately it isn't very good. If you MUST know what happens in Naruto, just read the manga so you won't at least waste your time. This show is so cringe worthy too; like if a giant monster is attacking you and you just took a fatal blow to save someone, you're going to die or the monster will go after you. It's not going to let you sit there and allow for a crying sappy 10 minute scene.
Stay far away from Naruto. Go watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. It's actually a good shounen and holds up well. Also, shows like FMA does NOT use the terrible "escalation" trope where the character's growth and journey is parallel to their growth of strength/power like some bad Dragon Ball fanfic.

I will firstly say that slice of life/romance anime are not really my style. It's really difficult to keep my interest if you come here with an anime that goes "Oh school life... teenage stuff and things... romance that never progresses WITHIN the anime" I'd just up and out.
Kimi no Na wa has a bit of a slow start but the beautiful art and the affinity of the music/the sight/the voice actors all correlate as one like a symphonic piece. I've always thought their language was so poetic and even artistic both in dialect and literature. This film does a pretty good job at that
...
and even distinguishing Japanese culture.
The added sense of supernatural element to it does not ruin the story by being too far out; in fact it's endearing. You can't wait for them to switch bodies because the interactions between the two is funny and heartwarming. Also the twist including some turns into the story was a nice bit; I was wondering when falling in love with it how it can ever go wrong because there HAS to be a climax and some kind of challenge to the protagonist to find happiness.
I came in here expecting to be cheesed out with some corny romantic goof flick but instead I was blown away and left stunned at how good it was. Though I didn't cry at all. Maybe I'm dead inside.

I've had my fair share of harem and perverted anime when I was younger and I quickly learned to hate them. This one was completely different though. I love this anime partly because it refuses to take itself seriously... EVER. Not to say this makes for a poor story line or uninteresting development.
This anime's hype was first brought upon the setting; living in a fantasy world like you would in an RPG game? That background setting itself already poured countless viewers to watch this but the added effect of hilarious and unique dialog makes this anime shine brighter than anime with over 200+ episodes with
...
the same recycled dialog every episode. I mean when was the last time you came upon an anime that didn't have an extraordinary fight scenes or violence that says more in 10 episodes than other animes do in over 200+ eps?
KonoSuba to its last episode WHILE fulfilling the plot and progression AND EVEN character development somewhat in Kazuma was a hilarious piece. Usually the male protagonist in harems are not funny but his quirks and dialog is genuine and feels legitimate. You don't question the corniness of some lines simply because this anime is not meant to be taken all too seriously yet despite that it still has a serious plotline they intend to fulfill. A good watch if you don't mind some perverted scenes here and there.

The rating is a joke for this. I grew up to FMA manga and accepting the 1st FMA anime. Then this came out and my mind exploded. If you never watched anime in your life and don't really like it, at least give this one a try. Everyone who watches anime will at least know of FMA B. The story.. is perfect. Things are not all that it seems. There is corruption, there is shady business, there is alchemy! Hell yeah! I like how they portray fascist state regime as well. The art for this anime is also perfect. At least for me, this is
...
how I'd imagine characters to look like in anime. Also they aren't just your typical generic anime characters (although there are definitely some even in FMA).
There will be characters you don't like but for the most part, the characters are flawless and could not have been made any better. Every character in this I loved. However the ones I loved the most were characters like Olivier Armstrong, Lan Fan, Ling Yao, and of course the one and only Hughes.

While the art may not be the highest budget or most up-to-date; it is very enjoyable and has a very spunky feel. When you see this art in the future, you would probably make the connection right away because it is so unique. It's interesting also how the main character dinosaurs look kind of more human-like, round, very cartoonish while the random dinosaurs they show between important scenes look realistic and have feathers.
Putting that aside, You are Omasou is extremely heartwarming and touching movie. I really enjoyed it. As a grown man, it was difficult not to coo and squeal watching the cute first interactions
...
between the main characters Heart and Omasou. The entire story meshed together very well and the transitioning of the film was pretty good. It has very funny charmish scenes and I find this entire film adorable and great. I understand a straight guy saying all this sounds pretty dumb and questionable but I suggest you give this film a try. It's not a masterpiece, I admit, but it's pretty good and DEFINITELY worth watching at least once. If they made a sequel/spin off show, I would watch it.
