If you're not any particular type of furry then I'd take caution. The show does a mix of actual "Feral", "Anthro", and partial bestiality...
and follows 3-4 different stories

They come in a particular order which I will list at the end in case you want to skip and at least see which might appeal to you...

For those of you still reading I have to say that the action was pretty decent, being of a...certain taste

I. Don't. Like. Mechs.

Let me say I grew up with Kaiju in my house because my mom loved Godzilla so I was exposed and liked mechs at a young age but someone along the line I just lost interest and avoided a lot of anime in that genre because of it. That being said "Darling" is a semi predictable show with predictable plot arcs, with semi interesting characters. High quality sound and animation is a given in most modern anime so take that as you will. This show is unimpressive...

Yet I have to say that this show was perfect for me.

It played into some of ... my stronger taste in shows and kept me wanting to watch more and more. I'm not going to over sell this anime it's not something super unique or revolutionary but it did pull me strings in the right place for MY particular taste.

-Very interesting world (reminiscent of the Lost Planet games)
-Slice of life aspects
-introspective self exploration (onset [caused] by the setting)
-strong female love interest (002 not Ichigo)
-Stuff involving time (sorry trying to avoid spoilers)
-decent supporting characters who aren't just background
-and even pacing of the shows plot points

This show hooked me pretty fairly and to be honest as cool as the fights were I did find myself more invested in the story then to even care about the actual combat...

I recommend...

What went wrong?

I went into this anime knowing it was a drama and was excited when the opening themes were more realistic and less Twilight. I just don't know why the writing team choose the directions they did.

The Good:
Animation, Sound, majority of the Character Ark's, as well as the story foundation.

The Bad:
The main character is a chump and there's no reason behind it and the show has an underlying case of "Pseudo Action" there's a bit of fighting and combat but it didn't seem to to hold any weight or seen like the fights are significant enough even though there is plenty ... of buildup to the fights.

The Ugly:
My biggest issue was not the awful Anti Climactic ending our even the unnecessary end kill promises between Yuri and Zero...
It was the Story Continuity Error. Early and middle of the first season they explain how becoming a Vampire works and how to avoid becoming a monster servant (degrading level E) and how to counteract any issues...AND THEN IGNORE THE RULES, they spend the time and effort to explain the rules of Pure, Reg and E and then just start skipping and ignoring things.
I had to watch it in English to make sure I had understood and rules and reading the reviews nobody has brought this up...like at all.
I'm so confused as to why they just ignored it and I would have easily accepted a Strawman Excuse like "chosen one" or "Cursed one" but no! No one either acknowledges or wasn't paying attention to the rules.

Conclusion:
Watch it if you want to watch a really rough piece of coal that had the potential of a diamond. This was and ok watch but a disappointment in many areas.
I hope the sequel series has some answers, good luck out there
