Both Haruhi and Misaki aren't afraid to speak what is on their minds / don't show much fear. Both Haruhi and Misaki are in a way poor, Misaki being actually poor and Haruhi poor to everyone that goes to the same school as she does. There are many more ways the two are similar but I might end up spoiling so I'll just leave it at that.
