Guilty Crown, with all the hype surrounding it before its release maybe the most polarizing anime that has come about in the last couple of years. Was it be a victim of being unable to fulfill unrealistic expectations and doomed from its release?
While in no way a masterpiece it is great anime, best described as a flawed overlooked gem. Reading some of the negative reviews and viewers mixed thoughts, I lowered my exceptions and came into Guilty Crown expecting a average anime. After finishing the show I can personally say I immensely enjoyed the series and hope i can convince others with my review to
...
at least give Guilty Crown a try with a open mind.
Anyways heres my detailed thoughts:
Sound: Absolutely amazing. I can easily say guilty crown had one of my anime favorite soundtracks. From the fantastic OP "My Dearest" to the ED, and fight theme "BIOS" and the rest of songs played through episodes were perfect choices. Soundtrack Instrumentals were also on par and portrayed and complimented the appropriate moments great. Also being that the main female protagonist is a idol singer, the scenes with her singing is powerful as it beautiful coupled with the jaw dropping artwork.
10/10
Art: Imo one the best artwork ive seen in a anime television series. Some of the bigger moments and battles are on par with a anime motion picture(film). Action scenes and choreography, some of the best ive witnessed. Great designed character models, intricately detailed backgrounds and outstanding effects, many of the anime crucial points/scenes left me simply breathless.
10/10
Story: "Story" of guilty of crown where many viewers had issues with. I'll admit the opening first couple of episodes were messy and bit too cryptic and had me thinking "guessing this is going to be another great looking action anime with a average story". Easily the weakest aspect of guilty crown is its 1st couple episodes and its introductory to its story and characters, where I believe many people dropped the show early instead of watching it through all the way. My thoughts changed as the story progressed and things were revealed, explained, and the plot developed . What started as a simple rebels vs the powers that be story, progressed into a more complex story of friendship, betrayal, tragedy, social issues, and ultimately sacrifice. While not the deepest story, it did have its share of touching moments, beautiful love story behind it all, and epic conclusion.
7/10
Characters: Guilty had a mostly likable cast, which more than i can alot of anime i watch these day where i don't care of or hate half the cast. Mostly of how the team behind guilty crown wrote the MC was the most impressive. He is mostly likable, and the how he develops/matures/changes in the story is relate-able and believable making for a great protagonist MC. While the are some clitcheic and forgettable characters, there was a also a good number of characters I grew really fond of and became invested in, from their backstory, personalities, and relationships/bonds. With such a larger cast, the lesser supportive cast was good. They were believable in their reasoning's and decisions.
8/10
Conclusion:
I gave Guilty Crown 9/10, based on my overall enjoyment and what I took away from the show. After watching the show I can understand alot of the lower scores, as I said before the anime does have its flaws and ultimately its on the viewer to decide how much the flaws affect their viewing experience and enjoyment as flaws can be found in any anime. I hope my review persuades people to give guilty crown at least a chance. Especially people who dismissed it without a try due to the negative reviews or the fact its not overall rated a 8/9 on mal, so it some assume it must be average show. So again give it a chance, you might like it, or even end up loving it like i did! :)

White Album, 2 a anime that started off great potential but is squandered with bad writing, horrible storytelling and a idiotic conclusion. Its pretty disappointing and frustrating because w.a.2 could really have been amazing. After reading some of the glowing reviews and seeing it scored so highly, I went in with hopeful expectations but ended up severely disappointed.
Art:
Great Artwork all around. The character models and backgrounds are well detailed. The more crucial emotional scenes were especially impressive and beautiful with the snow, lighting and coloring.
Sound:
With a title white album comes with expectations in this department an it did not disappoint. The score
...
was somber and beautiful throughout the story and conveyed the mood of the scenes perfectly.
Characters/Story: (I put this category together as my opinion coincides and pertains greatly with both)
The first couple of episodes left me hopeful and excited how the characters and their relationships would develop and how the story would unfold but instead of leading into something great... it falls flat. I can't go into details without giving MAJOR spoilers and my review won't much sense without revealing them but i'll do my best.
As a story themed around Love and Friendship its done horribly. The romantic feelings and love the mc's has toward one of female's mc's is severely underdeveloped and doesn't even make sense, it basically comes out of nowhere. The story/flashbacks only portrays his kindness and friendship never love and so when he reveals his love to her its unbelieveable, totally spoiling the main conflict! Setsuna's troubled past with friends in middle school that shape her thinking and motivations is also laughably underdeveloped, its shown/talked about very lighty for 3 minutes! Its just plain written poorly and a super weak motivation overall why she is crazily obsessed with holding the 3 mc's friendship forever. Even the conclusion's reveal that shows the main twist and main motivating decision and logic of one the mc's is just baffling and implausible , making you question and think "really....that was the whole point behind that mc's actions and decisions... how nonsensical and moronic".
Conclusion:
As I cannot give any proper review why i scored white album 2 a "5" without giving spoilers I apologize. While i don't think its the worst romance anime ive seen, its average at best. Maybe watch it on rainy day if you got nothing to watch and bored, is the only way i can recommend it.

Are you tired and bored of the usual highschool, harem, tsundere female lead, romance anime cliches that always have a similar plot? If so, i would highly recommend Golden Time. Its a refreshing take on the romance genre thats gone too stale for my taste. Especially since it caters to a more mature crowd with its characters and storytelling. Heres my Breakerdown
Art: Artwork is amazing, characters design, background, colors are of all top notch production. Everything is very detailed and the art direction is just amazing especially with the romance genre where quality can often vary. I didn't see a dip in quality
...
and the artwork is consistent throughout the whole run.
10/10
Characters: I always thought the cast was great. This was probably the first time I actually liked the whole cast, sure they had minor annoying moments but nothing to point where i started to question and loathe characters unlike in every romance anime. Although the mc is "technically" in a love triange, its played out in a way thats interesting and impacts the story in a deeper meaning. The relationships are believable and a joy to watch and nothing really felt forced to further the plot. I was super estatic that in the main cast, golden time avoided another super annoying cliche with useless annoying characters strictly put in to add idiotic comic relief or even worse further plotlines. Also avoided the dreaded tsundere main love interest, seen in every other romance anime. Sure the female love interest is a yandere which isn't uncommon either but I liked how her relationship played out with the mc and ended up being very moving by its conclusion.
9/10
Story: What started off as a feeling of deja vu and feeling "crappy where have i seen this before" the story unfolds and differentiates itself quickly .Like mentioned before, Golden Time story caters to more mature viewers with its mature theme and how the story plays out and its a great respite from all the recycled cheese out lately. The story mainly revolves around the mc's romance with kouko, his friendship with the cast, dealing his past and his mental issues( I'll word it this way to avoid spoilers) that begin to unfold in the second half of the story. The story is more on a serious tone for the most part with some light comedic relief here and real heartfelt moments that will test your ability to hold back tears .Golden Time also avoids the all too famous multiple implausible obstacles that come out of nowhere and unrealistic solutions. Ive heard people had issues with the pacing, saying it felt rushed at times. I thought pacing was fine, I honestly believe it woulda just felt bloated the if they implemented anymore into the story.
9/10
Conlusion:
Golden time ended up being of favorites in the genre and with all the other factors put into place I have to give a 10/10 overall. Sure there some minor flaws, as you can nitpick in any anime, but I felt they didn't away from the whole experience at all for me.
So again I highly recommend you give Golden Time at least a try, especially since its rare to have mainly romance show with a more mature story. Especially if your looking for something different and bored of the same old bland romance animes. Give it at least a try to episode 4-5 if possible!!!

Great anime and definitely was enjoyable to watch something with a different theme/concept.
So the theme/plot was mental psyche of not just the hikikomori mc but rest of the main cast that also deal with social/mental issues.
Art: The art i thought was great especially considering this originally aired in 2006 and the style fits the characters and mood well. There are a couple minor episodes where the air style is imo different/crappier but doesn't take away from the show.
Story: Probably the strongest part of the show. Characters are introduced well with good backstories. The characters compliment eachother well and its fun to watch their interactions. Theres
...
a good amount of humor as well thats rarely cheesy. Mainly the show conveys the mc's life being a hikikomori great, albiet even to some extreme unrealistic levels.
Characters: I generally liked the main cast of 4 except hitomi. Her popping up randomly and the mc's fixation/fantasies even though in the story he hadn't met her in 4 years wasn't believable at all to me. At times her mental state was worse then the mc's and made me feel this one needs professional help. Misakis and kaoru's dynamic with the mc was entertaining and touching
as you feel they generally cared for him. While the creators/writers did a great job depicting the mc's social/mental issues throughout the show, i can't help feel they went to a bit much extreme. With his personality being fking selfish, ungrateful, parasitic, and a giant asshole i feel he honestly belonged in mental ward, i honestly could not connect to the mc halfway through and started to dislike him and it my dislike grew. Maybe the writers wanted the viewer(me) to feel exactly this way but to me he ended up like a piece of trash scum.
Sound: I like the soundtrack and the musical themes went really well in emotional moments. I prefered the dub version, the dialogue is good and voice fit the cast.
Anyways, Depending on your opinion on the mc since everything in the story pretty much revolves him will probably determine your enjoyment on the show. I still recommend since its different, fascinating, and interesting, give it a try.

Where to start....
To put it simply tokyo ghoul is a trainwreck. I do know this show deviated from the manga, but that is not the reason its bad. Its not bad because its not faithful to the original source material, this anime is just plain bad. Honestly just hoping so save some people their time who watched and enjoyed season 1 and planning to watch root a. Well here are some reasons
Art:
I don't know if the studio had some budgeting issues but wow the artwork was horrrible. Its super inconsistent and most of the time looks like a mess. Some episodes will look decent
...
and all the sudden the next one will look the animators just dialed it in and decided "hey this show sucks so fck it" lol.
Colors are bland most of the time and mostly flat as well, making the whole experience feel cheap. Probably the only episode the artwork that was good was probably the last which is ironic because the it sucked and so did the ending.
Characters:
Even worse than the art. I never watched a show where i didn't even care for even a single one of characters. The characters are shallow, one dimensional and boring. Dialogue is poorly written, and even the relationships between the cast is predictable and mostly cliche. Motives are not clear and the show just ignores or just assumes you magically know the characters reasoning and crazy logic. Btw the show does the unforgivable deed of just introducing characters in the plot and never never give any background/story to them ever!
Story:
The story is where i have the biggest issue. The whole thing is filled with plotholes galore. Characters are introduced and put in situations with little or no explanation. Characters motivations and reasoning is mind baffling and makes no sense most of the time. Even when characters are perilous situations or die I just didn't care because the character had so little personality/background/relationships within the story theres barely any emotional impact. PRIME Example: Mc fights a enemy character and his group of allies that are lined up behind the enemy , as the 2 clash but all the sudden all the enemies group of allies are defeated like they just fell over and died offcamera and theres no mention of it, this happens multiple times! I won't spoil it but wtf shitty ending to add insult to injury as in payment for watching this show completely to the end.
Conclusion:
I completed watching the first season and i thought it was decent and I have a bad habit of finishing a series completely, even if bad. Honestly wish i never heard of tokyo ghoul so i didn't feel the urge to see this monstrosity of the second season. and i coulda saved precious hours of my life. Please Save your time and watch something else, just wiki the manga synopsis and be happy with that cause if you watch root a most chances you'll regret it.

Came into this anime with high expectations but ended up very very disappointed. I feel like either the other reviewers who enjoyed and rated it well watched something else or i must be completely missing something all together. Here are my detailed thoughts:
Artwork is good, probably the only good aspect of the show. Character models and backgrounds are well drawn. Colors are also vibrant and pop as well, no complaints here.
Story and Characters is where i feel this show really falls short. I honestly feel 24 episodes could have shorted into 13. So many pointless little subplots that just feel uninteresting and drag-on. Even the
...
first couple of episodes had pointless parts that made it a stuggle to watch at times. Also alot of the plot is plain outrageous and completely over the top and moronic. The situations and solutions the characters go through and fix and downright
unbelievable and idiotic. Example: the teacher/caretaker living in the dorm goes on vacation over new years and everyone has to vacate the dorm so 3 girls roommates end up having to stay mc's house.....wtf.really, please be more creative, way to many random situations like this..
Now off to the characters, the relationship/development of shiina, mc and anoyama are fun to watch at first but quickly become repetitive as the use the same jokes and similar sitaution over and over. I didn't care for the rest of the cast. Jin one dimensional and boring, misaki (personally the worst for me) your typical clitche female.... large breasted, loud, super childish and just plain fking annoying, and mc's sister who almost equally annoying literally one dimensional has overprotective brother complex. Even alot of the jokes/humor fell flat.
Overall i enjoy very few parts and think as a whole the show was mediocre and times horrrible . I even ended up skipping/scimming through some of the later episodes, things got so repetitive and redundant. Just nothing special that stood out. I would recommend skipping this one.

There are times when a anime transcends the typical norm of the genre. Stranger: Mukou Hadan is a amazing film that after viewing became one of my favorite anime ever.
The story is well paced and unfolds well, just enough background is given to compliment the plot and characters. It is a perfectly tight-nit story for a action film especially within the confines of a sub 2 hour film.
Characters are also a highlight, likable and just enough dept to make you care for them. The main protaganist cast is only 3 characters but I prefer it for a film, instead of having overstuffed cast
...
with underdeveloped characters. The relationship/interactions between the 2 main mc's is enjoyable and surprisingly heartfelt.
The art and action is really where the fim shines. Action scenes are breathtaking and choreography amazing. There is enough sword battles to even quench the most diehard action junkie and simply some of the best ive ever seen. Artwork/animation is geared toward more of the gritty/grim style where the film palette of colors are more grayish complimenting the films tone perfectly .
So conclusion: I honestly have watched this film 5 times and have not found any real flaws or dislikes that stood out. Im actually shocked at the time of this review Stranger: Mukou Hadan is only rated 8.43. Don't dismiss this gem and do youself a favor and give this movie a chance and see for yourself.
Note: I highly recommend you watch the film in blu-ray/1080p format to full appreciate all it has to offer.
