"Shelter" is the music video/"short film" for the Porter Robinson and Madeon collaborative EDM track of the same name. Many media outlets were excitedly sharing the news of this groundbreaking piece of media, a western musician and a Japanese animation studio working together to create something (a concept people seem to forget is not new at all). I was initially excited too, being a fan of Porter Robinson's music. However, once I actually watched it, my hype slowly drained away and he obvious truths of the situation set in.
The "story", however minimal and uninspired it was, felt a lot like something you would see conceptualised ... by a self-proclaimed white "otaku" who exclusively watches entry level stuff-- oh wait, that's entirely what this is!
Shelter is, visually, pretty, but nothing all too special for something this short in this day in age. The visuals look like anything else Aniplex could have had a hand in creating, reminding me of more than just one or two A-1 Pictures series I've seen before. The sound was the big drawcard for this project, and my thoughts on the music remain the same as when the track debuted - a weak collaboration from two interesting producers who could have made something much less boring. The voice acting was just as minimal as my interest in the sound of this "short film", with a couple of lines book-ending the music video.
The characters were, well, not really a thing. We have "girl" and we have "man". Neither matter, at all, and neither have overly memorable character designs. Try to imagine some background character from Erased or SAO and you have your characters.
Overall, this was absolutely trite garbage that I regret investing my interest and the few moments of my time into. Pretentiously titled a "short film" despite being a music video with "uwaa~ flashy cgi visuals and anime style characters soo-goy desu desu~" and less story to it than something similar but far less condescending, Kanye West's "Good Morning" Japanese animated music video. I'm generously giving a 4/10 for "Shelter".

"Geiger Counter" is a lolicon hentai manga by Quzilax. If you're someone who finds lolicon disgusting, you won't enjoy this. And if you're someone who is a fan of the lolis, chances are you might find this disgusting as well.
The story's focus is on an "old man" engaging in a premeditated rape of a very young girl. While I am not a fan of the story, it's at least got a degree of story, so I can't really say that's the worst, so a 3/10 seems applicable. The art, which drew me in, is extremely good, a 9/10 - something which leaves me wondering why ... great artists can't focus their talents on something a bit less intense. The characters are lacking entirely, they're just victim and villain, young girl and old man. I can't say I enjoyed this manga at all, as even though I am usually not affected at all by loli girls in hentai or by the concept of rape in media, but this manga was offensive. I know there is worse out there, and I could probably help fans of "Geiger Counter" find some equally unpleasant manga for them to read, but I can safely say this is something I refuse to revisit and can warn those of you who are not sexually depraved against attempting to read this manga. 1/10.

Anyone who knows the Pokemon movies knows that a lot of them are very formulaic, but most still appeal to fans in one way or another. Diancie and the Cocoon of Destiny, however, is different, becoming most likely my least favourite Pokemon film yet.
I watched the Cartoon Network broadcast of the movie, so perhaps that's the reason why, but this movie felt very hurried, and it lacked impact as a result.

The story was very much to the formula of numerous other Pokemon movies. Meet new Pokemon -> Help it achieve its goal -> Uh-oh! Human baddies/Pokemon baddies -> Friendship prevails!
This same old ... layout is usually remedied from being too boring by the individuality of the setting, Pokemon or enemies. However, Diancie's movie had no fully interesting setting, moving about across pretty same-y towns and areas, with only the Carbine tunnels being somewhat more unique.
The bulk of the movie was comprised of a complete lack of action, with small, unsatisfying battles scattered throughout. This lack of action, however, provided the place for a few gags which were, to a degree, entertaining... But overall, the film just seemed boring and devoid of purpose.
The end-game villain, Yveltal, appeared somewhat briefly towards the conclusion, and was quickly sent packing. Unlike other big-bad, such as the monster from Jirachi Wish Maker, Yveltal lacked a real sense of awe and excitement when it arrived, and was a disappointment that could have been cool.
Oh, did I mention that Pikachu got turned into stone at the end? How absolutely original!

The art was some of the best from a Pokemon movie. The use of CGI was nice, and the whole movie was attractive and stylish. The sound, as well, was fitting and quite good, including a rehash of the "Gotta Catch 'em All!" theme which surprisingly WASN'T terrible! The voice acting, the first of the English dub I've heard for XY, matched the characters and their original voices pretty well, especially Citron (or Clemont). Diancie's voice, however, became gradually more and more annoying, something that was only made worse by the overkill of flimsy dialogue about "bein frienz".
The characters in the film were, in my opinion, one major reason this movie failed. The original characters could have been interesting, but even then, characters that drove the storyline were paper-thin and unmemorable. Supposedly important characters were barely introduced prior to the ending. Ninja Riot, for example, was a silly character who seemed to mock the whole idea of a ninja, and it was kinda funny... But, his seriously limited screen time held him back from being memorable beyond next week, no matter how ballin' his Ninjask flight was. Ash and his gang of above-par pals, Serena, Bonnie and Clemont, were as good as they usually are, and Team Rocket were there, despite having no real role. But that's not a change, now, is it?

I didn't enjoy this movie nearly as much as I wanted to. The film had the potential to be exciting and radical, but instead was bland and uninteresting. If you want to watch just one new Pokemon movie, I recommend you wait until next year's ORAS movie - because, I mean, how can they mess up a movie about the Super Ancient Pokemon?
