This is the first time, years later, after I have watched all the series and read through most of the manga, that for some reasons I looked at the review section and I am surprised this got so low scores.
Story & Characters: yep, the story sounds cliche from the first moment on. Shy girl, a bunch of cool guys - it definitely sounds like reverse harem and you think, she will turn out beautiful, they will all fall in love with her and she will bloom like a flower... ahem, no. It's double no. Triple no. And that is why I love this story.

Ok, normally I do not write reviews and I do not believe in them either. I find them plain useless. Still, I need to talk about this story and so I shall write the third review.
The art is above average level at any case. What I disliked a bit was the lack of females and the fact all males looked like girls, but considering the shojo genre it’s perfect (although few times I could not distinguish the two main characters from each other due to the long hair and similar garments) The story really deserves some attention. At first glance Hot Gimmick goes a little too far from the average abusive boy-stupid girl relationship stereotype. That’s because the main characters are often too edgy at being themselves.
Nevertheless, that is what you would find only at first glance. Actually the characters are quite well created and their behavior is well motivated (most of the time). So I was a bit surprise to see so many negative reviews.
