Both are bassically cook off battle shows (though Yakitatte is so specifically about bread) that feature over the top reactions. shokugeki is bassically a more ecchi, Shonen battle oriented version of Yakitatte Japan. The reactions are a bit more lewd and random (not too dissimilar to Toriko). Thus far it's seeming to focus a lot more on the "bad-ass" aspect of challenge shounen animes. And Yakitatte Japan is the more parody, slice of life oriented version of shokugeki. The eating reactions are all more pun based and referential of Japanese and pop culture. even the title is a play on words, "Yaki tate" meaning "Fresh from the oven" , and "Japan" being both the obvious English word, and Ja-pan (pan being the word for bread.) As particular over the top example. .. One particular reaction chain leads to a character full on growing spike of hair, turning blonde, and allows him to shoot beams... Both are definitely amusing in thier own way.

If Beet the Vandel Buster is Gate Keepers younger, more adorable brother, Busou Renkin is definitely the cooler, older brother. In terms of style, humor, and visuals, both Busou Renkin and Gate Keepers are very similar, but Busou Renkin just has that extra bit of over-the-top flare that makes it stand out; and the storyline and storytelling are superior. Being the older brother however, Busou Renkin lacks some of the innocent, adventuresome charm that Gate Keeper has about it.

Beet the Vandel Buster feels very much like Gate Keepers kid brother. Beet the Vandel Buster is the PG to Gate Keepers PG-13, so the style of humor is a little different and toned down, but it also has a tighter nit cast, a little more cohesive adventuring story line. The settings are completely different, the plots aren't alike at all, and the style isn't really either (Gate Keepers a little more zany), but the "vibe" feels very similar. A kind of adventuring, feel-good warmth and light hardheartedness that makes it an easy watch.

Goofy main characters with haunted pasts that carry a great burden and don't really fit in with their world. To be honest, I'm tempted to say Trinity Blood is just Trigun with vampires, religion, and a darker tone (Trigun tends to be more whimsical and light hearted, using it's dark and serious moments much more sporadically and poignantly, making the contrasting moments pack a bit more punch in Trigun.) The resemblance between the two shows kind of feels like Flame of Recca vs Yu Yu Hakusho, where the premise and content are so similar that you can't help but draw parallels (maybe even going so far as to wonder if one is a knock off of the other) and can't help but notice that, while you may enjoy both, one definitely pulls it off slightly better.
