I read this because the author, Kiyohiko Azuma, wrote my favorite manga [book:Yotsuba&!, Vol. 01|511240] At first, I was a little disappointed because I didn't think this manga was as funny or as good as Yotsuba&! But I'm glad I kept reading because I found out: the more you get to know the characters, the funnier and better the story becomes. By the fourth and final volume, I was sorry to say good-bye to these girls and their teachers. The story is really just a series of interactions told in (mostly) four-paneled strips. The Zombie apocalypse has never seemed so appealing as when your stuck in a never-ending cycle of work at a soul-destroying job! Akira is working for a "black corporation", where he is forced to work unpaid overtime in an office full of other miserable folks. Now that the zombie apocalypse is in full swing, he's living his best life, riding motorcycles, drinking beer, and working on his bucket list. Preliminary (6/27 chp)
I haven't read any vampire romance or vampire shojo in quite some time, so I thought I would give this one a try. This used to be my favorite, go-to type of manga 15 or so years ago. I just kind of got burned out on it. This was a refreshing take, while feeling familiar at the same time. The art is simply gorgeous and the whole vibe is so gothic and atmospheric. I'm interested enough in the mystery surrounding the vampire men, the forest of thorns, and Stella's doppelgänger to check out the next volume. A solid dark romance manga!
