Both have very good storyline to support a successful movie. But the part that makes it less successful (this is just my opinion), is the fail of an ending both of these movies have. Still great movies....until the post-post climax portions.

Fate/stay night
add

A human gains control of a strong entity in which they are forced to battle others that are in the same situation. The battles are either to the death, or until the strong entity can no longer fight. The fights stop when there is one victor. The battle is supposed to be kept quiet and only amongst the participants, but the fights escalate and soon, the entire city is at stake. Outside of the fighting, they live normal lives.

Lovely★Complex
add

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is more for guys, while Lovely Complex is more for girls. That doesn't mean its gender-exclusive; it just means the series was originally intended for that audience. Both series are realistic in terms of romance and life. Unlike regular romance series where they always happy-happy-happy, both series show you that life isn't always fair. Be ready to cry and smile in either of these series.

Azumanga Daiou The Animation

School Rumble is said to be the Azumanga Daioh of its time. Both are respectfully good. Both have a female cast of main characters. Both have rather interesting female teachers. Both are pretty random. Both series focus on individual character development. I recommend both series.

DearS pretty much copied Chobits. Except Chobits still did everything better. The only thing DearS has on Chobits is that it's newer.

RahXephon

They are pretty much the same anime. Difference? RahXephon is newer. RahXephon has a better main character. Evangelion has better supporting characters. You will not want to punch a baby in the face after watching the main character wimp out. (Evangelion)

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu
add

Both animes are episodic, meaning one 20 minute episode is actually 2 or 3 small episodic parts. Both series can be watched in one full session, or if you have 6-10 minutes to spare while your pasta is boiling. Difference: Fumoffu is a Slapstick comedy with a tsundere lead to reinforce that. School Rumble is a Romantic comedy that is reinforced by many misunderstandings and puns. Both series are pure comedic geniuses in their native aspects. Summary of these two series: Do these characters ever learn? No. Do they keep trying? Yes. Do they keep failing? Yes. Is it hilarious? OF COURSE! (Why else are we watching?)

Clannad
add

Both are very similar, after all, they are made by the same company. The difference: Kanon has a huge moe factor, as many of the characters have a cute catch phrase they repeat (Uguu~!). Kanon also has more of a mystical element, while Clannad is pretty realistic (though, there are mystic elements too in the form of ancient Japanese folklore).

My Girl
add

Dad comes home and finds a girl he must all of a sudden take care of. That girl turns out to be his daughter. The difference between the two: Otaku no Musume-san is more light-hearted and comedy-driven while My Girl is more serious and drama-driven.

These are both quite similar. The difference: Love Hina is move comedy-driven while Ai Yori Aoshi is story-driven. Love Hina has more ecchi moments than Ai Yori Aoshi, but they are both series you should watch light-heartedly.

These stories actually share quite a few similarities. Both stories are about a undecisive boy who can't decide on his feelings. They both feature a childhood girl friend imposing on the main character. They both feature a girl who chooses to pursue her own dreams/aspirations no matter the cost. The differences are: while they are both romance/dramas harems, Ichigo 100% is more ecchi/fan service driven, while I"s is more drama/romance driven.
