We don't have to agree on everything. It's a show and movie that has people split down the middle for a reason, it is what it is. You could either defend it or point out it's flaws, but there are noticeable aspects to it which aren't shit (a show like Akame ga kill does not have). Like, for its time 1993, the animation was groundbreaking and that futuristic city backdrop looks great. There are heavy nihilistic themes in the show and film, but you could also argue for it being convoluted. Like I said, I can see both viewpoints.
As for Naruto, I just think the Anime (both parts) holds up very well. You could hypothetically read the colored panels, and that would be ideal for a re-watch, but the Anime just has moments that are superior to the Manga. It's a very good adaption, with good pacing without the filler.
I cannot say the same for Bleach. The 2004 Anime of bleach drags a lot for a battle Shonen, but it doesn't have the right for building its story and world that One Piece has to do so. In that case, I can't recommend the Anime as much, due to its poor pacing. The first part up to soul society is well paced though.
Umineko is something entirely unique, compared to everything else. It is a complex story that plays with perspective with how it portrays that idea. But still, even if you aren't thinking that deep, it's certainly enjoyable on a surface level. The superb voice acting and stellar soundtrack (It is considered a sound novel, due to how much emphasis is placed on sound effects and the music to guide the narrative) are incredible. The Manga though does offer very well done illustrations (every Episode is drawn by someone else with the exceptions of 1,3, and 8 being the same guy and he kills it). I will say that it can be harder to follow, because of the fact that there are different stories taking place at the same time that intersect. When you read the VN, it's very easy to understand when this happens, but with the Manga it kind of expects you to know. It's kind of like a play, with another play taking place inside of it. But don't be overwhelmed, it explains these things to you early on, and from there it's pretty easy to understand. And I didn't even mention the characters. You could literally think one way about a certain character at one point, and have a completely different side to them revealed later. They start as pretty surface level characters, but they gradually become more complex. I can also gurantee that you'll enjoy Episode 1 a lot if you like mysteries. But more and more gets revealed to you, as you progress until it reaches a fucking amazing climax. Lastly, I'll say that Battler, the main MC, does have that pervert joke stereotype going on in Episode 1, but I swear to you it does not happen afterwards and actually completely stops after the main plot takes place in Episode 1. It might happen in one scene in Episode 2, but genuinely never after that. The series was being written and submitted to the public, so they voiced the complaints with the character and he fixed that aspect almost immediately.
The most ideal way to experience the series is by playing the VN, but there are YT playthroughs I can link you which you can follow along with instead. It will just feel slower. What I recommend though is that you could follow the guide I've been working on (I'm currently up to Episode 3, so you could easily try it for Episode 1 and 2 and tell me what you think), which incorporates the amazing art from the Manga, the outstanding voice acting, and the literal peak soundtrack from all mediums. You would have to switch back and forth, but I made it very clear with when to do so. You'd also save a lot of time (at least 10 hours in the first Episode, which is now 5 hours long) by going this way, while still experiencing it proper. I'll just say if there was an ideal way to experience One Piece like this, I'd do it personally, but I recognize it's a lot. The VN is honestly not that long, and with the guide it's even shorter. You won't notice it once it gets going.
TLDR
Evangelion people are split on. I like it a lot, especially the film.
Naruto is better as a show imo.
Bleach is probably better as a Manga imo.
Umineko is great in many ways and a bit complex, but it guides you through it. I have a guide for Umineko you can experience, which is better than just straight reading the Manga. Dont watch the Anime it's hot trash. Characters are multi-layered start simple. The story for the series is like a play inside of a play. Be careful of spoilers, if I link something to you watch it in an Incognito tab on YT so the videos won't show up in your recommended. I'm open to any question you have while reading it too. You'll definitely like Episode 1 once it gets going (the letter). Battler, main MC, starts as a pervert, this stops IMMEDIATELY once Episode 1 gets serious and maybe in one scene in Episode 2 he's like that. After that NEVER AGAIN. This isn't Monogatari, where it's satire, here it's just weird, trust me.
The movie is the actual ending and shows what is happening on the outside and HOLY SHIT DUDE. You should watch a summary of what happened first though. I don't think you'll like the answers the movie gives, but it is an experience that you got to sit down and watch. I watched it in Dub by the way. Like that was a fucking nightmare on steroids. Made me go through my Anime list and start judging things a lot more critically.
The re-watch is fire, let's go. I think it genuinely holds up, people that hate Naruto entirely are looking at it as a whole, and missing the individual arc value. I just think Shippuden during the war arc made some bad decisions, and the female characters could be written a lot better. Still, everything with Sasuke and Itachi in it are genuinely some of my favorite moments in any show, and you have arcs like Land of waves, chunin exams, Sasuke retrieval, Akatsuki stuff, etc.
I'm trying to squeeze in a lot of shows before January, which is gonna be the One Piece starting month. Once that begins, I'm locked in. I took a break from Bleach, because I figured what was the point when all I keep hearing about is One Piece? Like I can only watch a show of that length on its own. On top of that, going from the Umineko VN to Bleach felt like tonal whiplash. Maybe it's cause I was watching Bleach in Dub, but I always felt like the show was patronizing me (especially towards the Huecto Mundo arcs). I didn't get that from Umineko or Evangelion, so idk.
With Umineko I felt like my intelligence was always being tested, because it is a puzzle with pieces that fit and it has multilayered characters. With Bleach, I just felt like I was watching a stereotypical 2000s Shonen and it reminded me every few episodes. I'm going to back to it, just not now.
Now that we're off, I'm going to make the Umineko guide so you can experience the series. You'll like it a lot, even if it will be confusing at first, trust me. The Ost is also an absolute BOP.
And you can add it on MAL here: https://myanimelist.net/manga/4632/Oyasumi_Punpun
It is really depressing, and there's a lot of sex in here, but it's a masterpiece
Here's you link (No porno ads): Here
And watch it in Sub, the Dub is ASS.
