Sometimes when you watch anime you want something that will make you feel better or something to look forward to. In the beginning and the middle, the show was interesting because you didn't know what would happen next. Later on however, you just realize you wasted all your time people who got nothing accomplished and everything feels like a letdown.
This anime just feels like depressing ReLife. It's about a hikikomori trying to cure his condition, but this time, nothing seems to work and the main character is stubborn and lazy. I get that this anime is supposed to be a more realistic depiction of life

and less on the lines of fiction, but it just does work well. When I was watching, I wanted to see Satou improve and do something, and for 24 episodes all I see him is just slack off and do nothing. Some may argue that those elements of failure provide a meaningful description of real life, how everything may not go your way and that life is a struggle, and that these scenes also provided comedy, but I guess I didn't see that. While watching this anime I felt distressed how lazy Satou really was and just wanted him to actually accomplish something. Nobody in the show is someone you can really trust, they all let you down in some way or another. This isn't really one of those feel-good animes, it just makes you feel agitated because the main character doesn't do anything and the show is pretty slow paced, considering that the whole middle of the show was spent on making a gal-game (that didn't really provide anything meaningful plot points afterwards). Now that I think of it, almost the whole show was about creating a gal-game with Yamazaki but in the end it didn't matter, and really, the only parts that I enjoyed was the offline meeting part and the end, because I was finally done with watching this anime.
As someone who enjoys watching romance anime I would tell you if you tried to pick this anime up for the tag, then don't watch it because it just leaves you depressed and feeling stupid for even picking this up. It's pretty much like Bakuman, the whole show is tagged romance because of literally one episode at the end that warrants the tag romance. If you want something that is similar to this theme just watch ReLife. I get that people are tired of the generic high school setting and want something more mature or something less simple but this anime feels like scraping from the bottom of the barrel. I guess maybe back then there wasn't a lot of anime and so this show was rated high but please don't watch this if you can.
