As for reviewing my favorite show of all time, it's hard to stay objective til the end, but I'll try, because it is not without reason I favour it so much. the review will cover the entire show, not just the second season.
Fate/zero was definately one of the highlights of 2011, with a huge budget, and based on the prequel to a Type-moon Visual novel, created big expectations for viewers.
Fate/zero is originally a Light-Novel by Gen Urobuchi, following the 4th Grail-War in Fuyuki, ten years before the events of Fate/stay night.
Story: 10
The show is a battle-royale between some of the greatest heroes of all time!
...
It should be self-explainatory. It's just epic!
The story goes dark pretty damn fast. Already from the first episode things start to get depressing. Some characters walk down the road of destruction. Some characters sit around and drink fancy Mesopotamian wine. And others goes on a children killing-spree.
The show also have some of the most intense and intruiging dialouge in anime-history, some leaving you with chills down the spline.
Basicly, every second of the series is awesome epicness.
Art: 10
Ufotable did an amazing job here, and 99% of the time, everything looks gorgeous. The landscape, the animations, everything looks fantastic. The action-scenes are probably where the art can be most appreciated, but the show's visuals shines constantly through the series.
Sound: 10
As expected, the soundtrack is fantastic. Along with superb voice-acting and sound-design, the sound it top-notch all the way though. Along with a fantastic second opening and three amazing Endings, there isn't really anything to complain about.
Characters: 10
Even though Fate/zero is an all-rounder, it's strong-points most likely lies in the characters. Never have I seen any show manage to add +15 characters to a show and make them all so interesting and threedimentional. There wasn't a single character I could honestly say I disliked, sinply because they were all so well-made. I never felt any of the characters were unrealistic, and they all had their own morals, some more twisted than others. Include it with an amazing character-development for both the protagonist, antagonist, and some of the other main-characters, it's really hard not to feel with any of them.
Enjoyment: 10
Awesome action-scenes, deep and interesting dialouge, Awesome visuals, Awesome soundtrack, Fantastic characters. I couldn't ask for more. It's just epic.
Overall: 10
It's definately one of, if not the best anime to come out in the last 12 years. It is a must-watch for anyone that feel introuged by anything mentioned here. You will not be dissapointed.
