An Honest Review - Update 2 *SPOILER DUHHHH
Darling in the Franxx has finally seen its days. The anime is now on par with most average anime since the release of episode 19, 20, and 21. Let's be honest, this anime has fallen apart a little. The latest episode, 22, was just a filling episode. All of the information in episode 22 could have been explained in 5-7 minutes.
*Story - 7
Uhhh... I don't know where to start since my last update on episode 18 (because MyAnimeList was down). It has intrigued me that this anime has made so
...
many last minute calls to turn into sharp steep corners since then. It went from (pardon that I'm going back from the start and the latest) *wanting to be stronger *to find true love *to question the world *to win the invaders. What's next, "how to drift in a Franxx?" I like the story, but it has been turning corner left and right in the recent episodes.
*Art - 7
The art... uhhhh... if I had to honestly say, has been slowly falling apart lately. Episode 21 was the one that got hit the hardest with the animation being much... how would you say it... RUSHED! Seriously the animation seemed to be on a tight budget. This reminds me of Ousama Game: The Animation exactly, but the difference in Ousama and Darling is that Ousama went from "ok" to "horrible," while Darling went from "great" to "ok." I'm okay with this anime skipping a week or two to just put their animation on par again, and I HATE the community how they pressure every anime producers of their anime artwork and the release of anime every week. I understand that we as the viewer want a consistent anime, but sometimes you just got to understand that the other end is going to have to sacrifice something.

*Character - 7
The character development is like riding a rollercoaster. It hits its peak and then dies down for the action. I really do like the romance, especially the doctor because it showed that the doctor is still a kind human (kind of), but only wish to succeed in his goal and thus KARMA. The rest of the characters as well are also on a rollercoaster. I'm not emotionally attached to anyone, as a matter of fact, I think everyone is very bland now. Everyone seems... well... "dead". Ever since I saw the doctor romance, I thought to myself from the other romances in the anime, "The author has the full potential to create an absolute fantastic romantic like this, but yet the other romantic in this anime seems somewhat lacking except this one that only last less than an episode." BRING MY "TSUKI GA KIREI" VIBE BACK!!!
*Enjoyment - 7
I'm not, but at the same time, am, enjoying this anime. It's a rollercoaster like I said. I think there is far more improvement that could have been done but isn't used.
*Overall - 7
This anime could take a week or two off and rest their head because rushing ain't going to get them anywhere. I remember the time when airing anime could take a week off and polish their anime for the viewers (and this anime did actually, but only for one episode), but it seems that now anime is rather a "money time bomb" and for many needs to mass produce them. A couple season back was what I would call "The Walking Dead" season because almost every anime was terrible, but everyone needed to watch to keep anime going.

Story - 8
This animation film is a easy watcher. Anyone of any age and experience in anime can watch this and be happy at the end. Story gets a 8 because how it only revolves around just the comet and Mitsuha. Of course, Taki is part of show but he more a supporting main, in my opinion. Mitsuha was the main focus, and don't get me wrong, she wanted to live in the city and Taki was just her savior to get to that goal. Yes, both fell in love with each other, but come on she was three year older than him
...
and both characters knew that.
Art - 9
I appraise the scene when the comet was flying really low (Mitsuha perspective) and it was "scattering" "rippling" "streaking" (IDK what it was doing actually, but it looked awesome and unique). All the other the scene fair against the trending anime, the color management is much more vibrant and more aesthetic (pleasing to the eyes).
Sound - 9
Nothing to be said here. It is great. Thanks RADWIMPS.
Character - 9
Story may be a 8, but character gets a 9. Taki learn the situation linearly, but then exponentially (probably due to the time constraint of two hours). Anyway, we learn both character quite well and do want to have both character to fall in love with each other. At the end of the show was the main bummer for most, but I think it is perfectly fine.
"WTF????? WHY DID BOTH CHARACTER DECIDES TO WALK AWAY?" they said.
Here's why:
I would had said the same thing IF both character were at the same age and had the same interest. Mitsuha's interest was to become a city girl. Taki's interest was to save Mitsuha and be a savior. Also, as I said before, both characters weren't in the same age. Mitsuha was older than Taki. What would your friends would had said if they saw you dating a woman 3 years older than you. I don't think they would think cleanly of you, they probably be more like, "this guy trying to get some old p*ssy?"
No offense but that is modern world we currently live in.
Enjoyment - 9
It's great and easy to watch. That's the reason why it is ranked number #2 in MAL and highly praised for.
Overall - 9
The stories could had made some changes, but overall the animation film was a great story teller. Easy to watch, calming, and you need no experience in anime. Just note that there's is light anime cliche, but don't let this bum you out because the cliche can be funny in this anime.
Want a great picture but without anime character in it? This show can get you one, you just have to search it on Google of when the comet was flying past the characters.

It's not lolicon when they act more mature than the all of us. Truth hurts, I know.
Where do I even start with this anime? The fact that the character development is f*cking awesome? Or the fact that you seem to be sucked in to the story bottomless pit? Or the fact that I shed tear to this anime?
Either way, this anime is awesome and will possibly make you cry also. No intention to make such criticism when it is already a great show. Aside for some of the "nude" scene that everyone seem to get riot up for, this anime is a "go to anime."
...
There are no heavy joke, nor are there heavy cliche. Extremely realistic survival skill set, literally, when Riko arm was cut to save her. Man that sh*t was extreme. Nanachi and Mitty has probably the saddest story of any I seen in anime history, it is clear and understandable that's why. Other are vague in their story, making it feel numb most of the time.

An Honest Review
I wish to had wrote this review back when this anime was released, but I never had the chance to create a account in MAL until recently. I will continue to write reviews of anime I had watch before.
Story - 8
This anime has its story grow exponentially and then a spiral ending that would either have people hate it or love it. I personally loved it because I am those person who like to see a realistic ending and a tragic hero. Shu becomes blind at the end of the anime because the power he had required him to look at the person's
...
heart, his most powerful weapon became his most tragic ending, thus explaining Shu's becoming blinded at the end. It is also very, very sad but for only one reason, Inori dies to protect Shu and the rest of the world. But this is build up by... I'll explain in the character section.
Character - 7
Character development and background is average in this anime. Most "main" on-camera characters are talked about. Of course, most of the character core development is with Shu and his family (well sorta). Gai never really had a proper background except that he was there with Shu and his family in the past. What I loved though was when Shu ultimately changed when Hare died attempting to resurrect a car when she was ordered by Souta's selfishness. That was amazing, and pertain to realistic choices that a open up the villain's perspective; freely let everyone decides on their own and death arrives because one cared only themselves or save everyone by acting of a dictator to escape as soon as possible. This is far the most realistic tragic hero decision I had seen in anime series history. It's a lose, lose and nothing could had change it.
(Don't read after this - It's a SUMMARY of the ENDING)
This later made the ending particularly sad because Shu becomes more independent without Inori, but at the same time it was lonely for him since everyone saw him as a villain now. Shu lost his void and experience weak and loneliness. Inori would later talk to Shu trying his best to save everyone by acting of a villain. Once Inori was in the hand of Gai, Shu promises to save everyone and bring back Inori. After regaining his new void by stealing one, his promise of saving everyone came true but not saving Inori. Inori can't live since she would only bring destruction, she takes all void power in the world and removes it permanently. This left Shu blinded and with a robot arm at the end.
Enjoyment - 9
Very realistic and very awesome musics. Nothing had made me this sad yet satisfying.
Overall - 9
In conclusion, this anime is not for beginner to watch. I would seriously prefer anime genre of ecchi, harem, or romance for beginner since they are easy to understand (and plus they are great when you are starting to think of.... you know XD). Great anime, I understand the ending was not what anyone expected, but c'mon, it a good damn show compared to many in 2018.

An honest review.
This anime talks about the misfortunes of Aya Asagiri, a 14 year old girl who was bullied for most of her life. She attempts to commit suicide multiple times, but fails to succeed. One day she is called upon to earn a magical weapon that would help end her bully. She hesitate to use the magical weapon, but when used it she accidentally kills two students; her bully and the bully's friend that was going to rape her. And the story goes from there, this is just the surface.
Story: There is a lot of violence and a lot of blood, but that is
...
not we are here for. The story is complex and confusing. Every character introduced in the anime gets a brief background, even the antagonist (well, not all of them). It all revolves around the "Tempest" but it never talks anything past that, maybe there will be more information later. Every magical girl wants to survive the Tempest, but no one ever try. They just want information, information, and capture the site admin. IDK, seems confusing that if someone was going to die, they might as well kill as much they can.
Character: Like said before, character are developed in a brief manner. You feel numb for the Aya Asagiri trying to commit suicide because the character is only briefly explained and makes it hard to be conveyed by her feeling. There are twisted girl, but along with Aya, everyone feels numb also. Everyone is in the shadow.
Enjoyment: I enjoy the sperms flying everywhere in ED as there is idol dancing XD, it always makes me laugh. Anyway, this show is exceptional for enjoyment if you don't mind the blood and violence along with twisted characters. The plot is "ight," not too shabby or too great.
Conclusion: Compared to some other season anime *cough *cough "Ousama Game," it phase the story in a good and exceptional way. Not too many dumb characters, but not too many too smart characters. Those who know more information at least tries to help those who don't. Characters has their own knowledge, personalities, and god forbid, a background at least. It's like angel and devil put together here. Light and dark.
