Shounen anime with ecchi and harem categorization usually no longer clicks with me really well (now that I'm much older), but given the high ranking on MAL for the anime. I decide to give it a try.
Story:
Typical story of high school man entering a school, except that this is highly competitive culinary school. The fact is that while certain chef might be revered in the states, but most chef are making significantly less than waiters, at least for starters, at least casted some doubt in my mind in terms of how realistic this anime is. Soon enough, I realize this is a shounen

anime - I should cast the realism aside. That being said, the comedy by exaggeration here is used really well. Naked man with apron, Meat general, the typical kicking and punching mixed in really well the story. This is in my opinion, a comedy for foodie. I did learn at least some good knowledge on cooking and food in general. (7/10)
Art:
Animation is smooth, not many reused frame at all. Characters are depicted in colorful, vibrant color. The major criticism is the heavy sexualized roles of basically all female characters, especially during the tasting of supposedly very yummy food. Why do every single female character needs to go through orgasm when tasting? Clevages, bouncing boobs and tentacles on naked female body are all at least unrealistic. There are scenes where it was so detached from the actual real world that I just simple don't believe in it. That being said, how the anime describes taste or fragrance is pretty creative and unique. (7/10)
Sound:
Some reused music (e.g. from ReLife), nothing special nor bad. (7/10)
Character:
Here kind of lies a problem. There are too many characters. While that might be OK with a longer TV series. For a 26 episode anime, the amount of characters resulted in the non-existent development for basically any characters outside of the main characters. By the end of the series, do we know anything about the smoke dude? or the wild anime lady? That makes the characters in the anime fairly forgettable outside of the 3 main characters. And honestly I don't see any development for Soma either throughout the series either...(5/10)
Enjoyment:
The comedy aspect of the anime is spot on. The amount of exaggeration usually resulted in hilarious moments overall all the episodes. Not gonna lie. As much as it is detached from reality and sometimes it is too much, I'm pretty amused at how everything can be connected to ecchi. Tasting bad food usually resulted in ecchi moments. Asking judge to taste your food also results in ecchi moments (Nikumi). Tasting food resulting in ecchi moments. The comedy aspect of the anime, in my opinion, is still the strongest aspect of the anime that makes it very enjoyable. (8/10)
Overall:
It's an entertaining video. Is it memorable for ecchi? Maybe. Is it memorable for it's comedy element? Probably not. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Do I think it's overhyped? Definitely.
