"Oshi no Ko" (Anime) add
This series to contrasts a bright, cheerful surface that idols show whilst hiding the darker undertones of showbiz and their daily lives. I think I'd recommend this series to people that like shows with similar layered dystopian themes that start off light-hearted but gets more and more tragic as the story develops. I guess there's a number of shows like this. The setting here is about idols and showbiz, but I feel it doesn't quite matter in that it can vary between shows. So people that enjoy shows like "Mahou Shoujo Madoka", "Angel Beats", "Your Lie in April" would probably like this.

Summary: Although the pacing and conflict is sufficient to capture attention, the main protagonist seems to have it too easy in this show, and the supporting cast are reduced to cheering bystanders.

The first episode has to be the weakest in the series, falling into many cliches and being downright cringe worthy at times. The series picks up slightly in the following episodes, with some effort to justify the MC's actions and some background on the supporting cast. However, these efforts seem half-hearted and do not provide a believable justification for the characters. There is little reason why the MC is should be as OP as ...
