I honestly don't get all the hype behind Konosuba. I sat through every episode thinking to myself, "Okay is THIS when I'll start liking the show?", only to finish an episode with dissatisfaction. I even tried a bit of the second season to see if, maybe, it gets better. It doesn't. Maybe it's because I don't like when characters are genuinely mean to each other or maybe I don't like asshole characters, but I didn't really like... any of the characters. Maaaaybe Kazuma since he's often the voice of reason but even then I kinda didn't like him.

I think my first mistake was going into this with high expectations, which only made me disappointed when it didn't meet them. The general premise and storyline is decent, I guess, but I went into this expecting more comedy and real detective work than the more eccentric, slow-paced story we got.
The art is quite good, although the focus on a middle-schooler's legs as thinly veiled fan service put me off a bit. I guess I should've expected that with something called Pretty Boy Detective Club tho. The characters are "quirky" but not in a way that makes me feel any attachment for them three episodes ... |
