I went in without any expectations and it still went below them. As someone who takes both comedy and soccer seriously, this anime just ended up offending me. It just felt like it had its hand in both cookie jar and couldn't do either right. I might watch more if they have a decent romantic thing but everything is just so annoying. The MC is a big snooze trash pile. If you are going to do a cliche at least do it right like the MC of Haikyu!!

The screeching harpies of "Aoyama-kun!" felt mind numbing. The motivations are silly and the comedy is awkward at ... best. Its basically Sasuke and Naruto combination but sasuke is MC. Fuck that.

Now these things would have been forgiven if they had done the football any justice but no. Same old shonen logic. Defenders are just standing there instead of tracking back and not giving the MC who is a forward any space.

If you want comedy, go watch Gintama and if you want proper soccer/football, go watch Area no Kishi. I only read the manga of the latter, which is brilliant, so forgive me if you don't like the animated version. Don't know if they did the original justice.

If you want every thing and every single genre and cliche stuffed into one mediocre pile of horse shit...this is for you.

The Narration, the story telling, the protagonist...everything is so predictable. And I wasn't able to really care about the hero because instead of dialogue they kept doing these aweful narrations and speeding up the training and storyline. The art and animation was amazing. I really wanted to like it because a lot of my online friends recommended this but I couldn't go past the 5th episode. It was like I was torturing myself. I literally was calling everything that was happening. If I wasn't, it wasn't impressive enough or impactful enough for me. The dialogue was as if it was written by me. And I ... am not a good. If you are just in it for the blood and gore, the great animation and you are new to animes...then its fine. If you want a story worth its salt and a compelling/unpredictable storytelling...look away. Might I suggest Dr. Stone instead of this Garbage...please watch that instead if you haven't already.

I am not going to say that it was a bad experience or anything...it was just seriously overhyped. The ratings make it seem like an anime version of Grand Blue but it falls flat for me. Maybe this type of gag isn't for me. I just read Kanojo mo Kanojo before this and even though that manga has like a 7 rating and there is barely any logic in things, the direction doesn't take anything seriously and I was seriously able to laugh out loud every single chapter.

I barely mustered a light chuckle for this for 2 episodes. Even then everything just felt so...overdone. ... I found Oresuki to be a much better comedy and for some reason that is also around a 7. Maybe my taste is severely different than what mainstream audience thinks a good anime is. But I loved Dr. Stone which is a mainstream success so I don't know why I don't get how this is such a great show. Its just bang average. I have dropped it.
