They have incredibly similar feels to them. Where as Gungrave is often recommended because yes on the surface the stories seem much more similar in plot, you have to realize that in both Texh and Casshern, plot has diddly to really do with it. I mean it moves along to tell a story but each persons sub arcs and motivations are really not overly dramatic. There aren't any grandiose betrayals for the most part or crazy intertwining stories. These stories are both moody and introspective. Casshern being far lighter. Casshern is honestly a great show with takes parts of Kino's journey into this futuristic dystopia. It's an existentialist anime. Texh, well not much to say there. It is a quiet, somber and moody piece up until the middle event and final climax. Usually you just learn the background or some of their motivations. It almost feels like gungrave, right up until the ending. Nothing prepares you for the ending. Well this is where Casshern Sins does. Casshern's ending will prepare you for Texhnolyze's ending. Texz has the heaviest ending of the three, by a long shot. I have not felt so absolutely destroyed in a long time. The show delves into the surreal and wraps it with despair. It's a nightmare sequence. Not a dream sequence. A nightmare sequence. You better be in a good mood, because if you were sad from Cassh's ending, you ain't ready for texz.

Here to second the opinion to read this. Both are pretty fantastic. Similar story lines but Kyou is more comedic I felt while Fuji was a bit more dramatic. Don't get me wrong both have heavier moments and heart strings scenes. Very enjoyable, highly recommend both.

Natsu no Zenjitsu

Readers will enjoy this primarily for it's more uncomfortable aspects. I always got a taste of bile in my mouth after certain stories in Girlfriend. Well Natsu is different in that it takes place in a romance between two adults but as the story progresses and is developed you can kind of get why they are similar, just the feeling it leaves. I loved both, but both enraged me at many moments.

Umibe no Onnanoko

If Girlfriend intrigued you then Umibe is a much darker take and a far more developed character study of teenage romances not being some fluffy high school sweet heart experience but a possibly more destructive experience. For both girlfriend and Umibe the male main character side is explored heavily. If you like Girlfriend you'll more than likely like Umibe

Hwaja

If you like the combination of mystery and romance, this will scratch the same itch. I personally found the quantity of romance in Dusk Maiden to be more than Hwaja, but the maturity of content in Hwaja is definitely higher. Hwaja tells of an evolving storyline with depth of the characters, while Dusk Maiden mostly consists of the present day, past flashbacks and evolution of the girl MC during the interim period. Both stories are very touching, and dark. If you want a darker more mature storyline, pick Hwaja If you want more romance, pick Dusk Maiden if you like one you'll be sure to like the other.
