This is my first review so I hope you guys find this helpful
The story(8):
Lets make one thing clear at the start. This isn't an anime like Mirai Nikki were you are put in a virtual world and the main character is crying all over the place. This anime is in the real world and with a main character that is more mature in a view ways. He's name is Ryouta Sakamoto and he is ranked #10 in the world top player of the game Btooom!. That is a game were you need to kill other opponents with as you may have quest bomb's. He is
...
dropped on an island for at that time reasons unknown and finds out that he needs to play Btooom! to survive. Every opponent has a bag with bombs and there are a view different types with each their own advantages. He finds himself in sticky situations and you can see him struggle in those situations. He finds a guy and they start running along together. They stick to getter and one of the strong points in the story is that they all feel like real people. They all don't trust other people but they won't kill each other to except of course some people that are just maniacs and start killing every one. He later finds a girl with men issues. Her name is Himiko. Everything in the story is progressing very slowly and that is good for the character development in Btooom!. The only problem with Btooom! is the ending. I won't spoiler anything of course but it isn't done and season 2 won't be released because the sales in Japan weren't as great as expected. Nevertheless it is an awesome story were everything falls to place and if you want to know how it continues after the anime you should start reading the manga. Now Let's move on to the next topic.
The Animation (8):
The first thing you will notice is how well the characters are drawn. It is not like the anime you know today and that is better. The lighting is done perfectly and when the action comes you won't see anything that will make you lose interest. Of course there are a view parts that could have drawn better like when he was playing Btooom! on he's xbox 720 or something and you could see some points that should have been better but those won't ruin anything. It could be that the game was just to badly developed that the xbox 720 couldn't handle it but yeah who cares. Well let's continue with:
The Sound (8):
The opening and ending song of btooom! were great, with the opening standing out more. They let you think you were on that island as well with the sounds and the music in the background went great with the scenes they were in. There isn't much more I can say about the sound except it is well done so let's continue with:
The Characters (9) :
The character feel more alive than ever because they seem like real people. Ryouta Sakamoto is an 22 year old dude that likes to play Btooom! all day. He feels like an average student only he has some anger issues with he's family. He is selfish and thinks only how things effect him. He felled like he was the men in Btooom and that's why he played all day. As for Himiko she is an average popular beauty that just isn't having any luck. She has men issues for a reason and you feel sorry for her to the whole story. She was almost raped and it felled like she reacted to that as real as can be. She didn't turn into some kind of whore like in some echi anime's instead she fought to maintain her purity and that is something I like to see in an Anime. For some other character is in the anime there is enough background in Btooom to make you understand them. They pulled that of very well if you consider that this is an 12 episode anime.
Overall:
Btooom is an anime I recommend to all of you. The story is great with the ending as a letdown but if you don't mind to read the manga later on you won't regret watching it. The character feel real and the sound and animation both make it better. I give this anime a 8,5 out of 10.
