I overall interpret animes as part of Japan's social and cultural existentialist template. Which is unfortunately the most pretentious way to say what I most love about it: the impermanence of beauty, the right to existence and the self-affirmation of your own life, the revolt against structures of power, and the gloriously silly sense of humor.
Dragon Ball was huge in my childhood.
I also take One Piece way too seriously.
