I was kind of disappointed by other series (Golden time, Kokoro connect) and looking for some comedy, so after the first episode I was sold. I'm not usually into sci-fi series, but this one seemed to be fun.
Comedy: check. Some awkward interaction between characters, but the plot was simple, and left little space for drama, which I found good.
Romance: check. it was not the usual "one step forward, two steps back". The main plot was going in the right direction, and leaving some door open for possible side developments or afterthoughts, but I expected that everything would be solved at some point.
First 10 episodes, quite
...
good. It just bothered me that some side character popped up as soon as something was going to happen between the 2/3 main characters. Like: I want to go there with you alone, but then, surprisingly, when we get to that place, everybody is already there waiting for us. Reminded me of Bokuben season 2 (the first time I watched a whole series hoping that something would happen because "it can't get worse than this in the next episode" and then it did every single time). But otherwise, quite fun and wholesome.
Spoilers start here.
Episode 11 was the first red flag. Anything could happen, and then somebody will save them. Forget the plot, the interactions get completely messed up, but at least there is hope, next episode will bring them together again.
Episode 12 is the total disappointment, Toradora-style final, where everything happens and nothing is really happened. The cake is a lie. She is going away, "never to return again but always in my heart.", he is not giving up anyway (well if he did at this point it would be unfair, to be honest). The other guy who seemed to be interested in the other girl has completely lost interest. The mystery girl is going away for the same reason she appeared at the beginning (i.e. no reason at all). Sister comes back, nobody will tell her what really happened (because of course, nobody has seen UFOs or heard explosions, or anything like that). And at the end... there she goes again. WTF? Why? No, sorry, this could have been a good show, maybe not great, but this final really ruins everything.

After the final episode, I can just confirm this is a 9/10. If I could use decimal points, it would be a 9.9/10.
The story is quite good, people will complain that it's not very original, but science fiction is a well-defined genre and I wasn't expecting anything groundbreaking.
The art is also pretty good, what you would expect from a good anime in 2021.
Sound was one of the strong points, and this was also expected. The much anticipated song at the end really hit that spot. This was the best part of the drama: we were forced to hear the creepy, distorted version of that melody
...
in the final arc, and ar the end we get the real thing, polished abd powerful.
But actually, reading the other reviews, I see a lot of other people gave it a 9 and I feel the same way: everything is good, but still not perfect. Some forced narrative like the time travel with no explanation, an abrupt ending, and a lot of characters I can't really relate to.
In my opinion the best show of the season (waiting for the final episode of Odd Taxi)

I dropped it once and gave it a 5. I thought it just wasn't interesting.
Then I decided to give it another try and was even more disappointed.
What really bothers me is that the story is nonconsequential. Anything could happen (you have 2 girls with superpowers to begin with), but only something does, and in the next episode half of it is forgotten. Characters disappear, on to the next (forced) joke.
Superpowers. Hina has to use them because if she doesn't, it could get out of control. Anzu has similar powers, but doesn't have the same problem. Anyway, don't worry, neither Hina nor Anzu will use any
...
of their powers after the first few episodes.
The story doesn't follow a path, but just goes from A to B, then forgets about half of that, starts again at some point between A and B, and proceeds in a whole different direction for some time.
Character development seems to be random. As if the author had no long-term plan for the development, and just hrew in some new element along the way to see if it sticks. Any long-running show can have this problem, but we are talking about a single 12-episodes season.
I had to watch it until the end thinking "there is no way it can get worse than this". But it regularly did. The only good point is that it's quite original, but that's it.

This show is very funny, at least for 90% of the first episode.
Then the TLDR is just "gross".
It's not just bad, it's butt-jokes-on-episode-4 bad. Dirty jokes, body odor with a hint of racism (Japanese people don't smell so bad as American), funny faces, then the same faces, then no-longer-funny faces again. Loud voices, kamasutra with dolls, and no connection to the main theme of the first episode: typical Japanese pastimes.
No plot whatsoever. No character development. No background. Complete lack of interesting contents.
But... it wouldn't be that bad had the first episode not been so good. They had potential and completely wasted it. Yes, the humour
...
is a little forced and the voices and faces are just a little exaggerated, but it could have been funny.
So, if you liked the first episode, and think this is a good surreal comedy show, then watch no further, otherwise you will end up writing a review like this.
For me, this is te most disappointing anime ever. You could watch episode 1 thirteen times, and have a better experience than watching the whole series.

I still don't know what really happened after watching it. Someone thinks it's a good point, but I just feel deceived.
I usually avoid this kind of stories where everything happens and then you go back in time and nothing has happened. I thought this one was different, given the many positive reviews. I was wrong. Anything can happen and then in the next episode they can make it un-happen, but never in a consistent way, There is no plot, because you can't assume that any event is going to mean anything in the next reset.
After watching the same story 3 times, I started wondering why.
...
Is there a deeper meaning to this? 26 episodes, a decent ending, and then there is another season, where the story will probably start again, ignoring everything that has or hasn't happened.
It's so bad because the anime could have been so good: mystery, thriller, horror, creepy characters, cute little girls with big knives, blood and paranoia. There was potential, the first 3 episodes were quite interesting, but then the 4th started going south, and everything after that felt like they were setting things up for the next reset.
The art and sound are nothing particular, but maybe the cuteness was meant to be disturbing in its own way.
The characters, interaction and dialogues are a little too simple.
The rest might have been good, but the supernatural events really ruined this for me.

Short review: this show is what Takagi-san should have been.
It's quite original, I think the main point of the story is how many relationship steps they skipped (no dating, no holding hands, no kissing, and so on) to reach the point where they just can't do without each other. It's as if they were already married before they knew it. She is teasing him and he can't stand her, but they always end up spending time together and genuinely enjoying it. Almost like Takagi-san, but without the denial, without teasing the viewers too much in the process, without the "so unpredictable it's obvious after the
...
third time" plot twists, and without cheap shortcuts to end an awkward situation. In a word: consistency.
The characters are great, maybe 2 or 3 more friends would have been good, but everything happens for some reason, there are no "filler" characters. I really liked Ami and her father, I think they are very important to define the point of view outside the fourth wall.
Yes, there are some very bad jokes, the usual accidental boob grabbing, pants showing, misunderstandings and such, particularly in the first few episodes, but most of them reach the "so bad it's good" point. In many other anime, it just happens, and then everybody blushes, and that's it. In this case, it's just a starting point for some (mostly, but not always) funny moments.
I also like how much of the action is taking place outside the school. I've seen so many anime where all the important parts happen inside the school building or in school uniforms, I think it's good when the artist tries to break out of the comfort zone.

I wish I could un-see episode 12.
As for many other similar anime, the ending ruined all: It started kind of slow, looked interesting after the first few episodes, and up to ep. 11 was perfectly fine, even if not anything spectacular.
I didn't like season 1, where almost nothing happened, but I found the second season much better, and was really looking forward to a real ending.
I didn't read the manga before, because spoilers are already everywhere, and I knew how it was going to end, but I didn't want to be disappointed too soon, I hoped they could come to some kind of conclusion.
I really
...
loved some episodes, particularly when Yotsuba got more screen time. She is an interesting character and I always thought she deserved more attention, but most of the story is about sisters 1, 2 and 3. Itsuki is not even worth mentioning, and they could do without her.
I think the show really reaches its final stage during the vacation arc (scrambled eggs), and I see that also most manga fans consider that the point where quality starts heading south. After that there is still some sparkle left, some unresolved tension, but nothing that can really save the story from being dragged along aimlessly.
So at the end, episode 12 is just a big bluff, backtracking on the progress already made, all soaked in denial: Miku gets her chance, but hey, we need a plot twist at the expense of consistency, so she has to backstab the whole story, deny her own feelings, and add some confusion. Ichika has been playing dirty the whole time, but at the end "it was all a lie", because of whatever reason she would never care to explain anyway. Futaro just walks away instead of asking for an explanation.
Yes, it's family and sisters' love, or whatever else, but it felt so close to a proper ending and then the ending is pulled away with brute force.
I've read the manga and I don't feel the need for a season 3, nothing meaningful is going to happen anyway.

I really wish I could un-see it.
I found this anime on Amazon Prime, as a recommendation, and I should have stopped at the title, the star rating or the PG-rating, I knew it was going to be bad, but I wouldn't have expected it to be so bad.
First episode: the main character smiles. Watch it carefully because she will never smile again in the whole series, or maybe never again in her life. This is the most stereotypical "I don't want to be happy, how dare you try to make me happy" character I've ever seen. She is going to be hurt at every attempt,
...
and probably give up trying. I don't know because I gave up on this anime first. But I skipped throught the last episode and it doesn't seem to get better.
However the first episode, albeit somewhat disturbing, is not bad at all, and leaves some hope for the better. The two main characters have found some form of balance, which could eventually bring them some joy. They skip the first phase of their relationship completely, but who knows, being close like this could bring some positive development.
The real train wreck is around episode 2: they are not happy and people start to notice. They will start cheating on each other (while not technically cheating because they never had a real relationship to begin with). The rest of the story is just that: everybody cheating on anybody else, and taking advantage of somebody for their own gratification. Yes, there are people like that in the world, but not everybody is so obsessed by it as this show seems to imply. the only character who deserves some attention is the teacher, unaffected by everybody else, pursuing his own happiness and trying to get along with hardships without taking shortcuts and trampling on other people's feeling. Is this a positive message? I think so, but it's buried under the heap of negative feelings and ironically the final solution (marriage) seems to be the easiest path: not really forgiving, but just turning a blind eye and underestimating the future implications.
After the second episode I tried skimming throught the rest, but couldn't find any other reason to save this show. I literally wasted 1 hour of my life. Even the art in the first episode is just a bait, the visual quality of the rest is not even close to that. There is no positive development, no positive feelings, just people making everybody unhappy in order to take revenge for their own unhappiness, plot twists without a real plot, and of course, sex scenes.

This is a hidden gem.
I think my tastes are very diferent rom the average MAL user, but I really liked it.
This is 100% comedy, no plot, the characters are very simple and yet their interactions are fun to watch, even if most of the times it's so predictable. Totally unrealistic, not trying to tell a complex story, just plain funny. All the characters have some peculiarity, and the story is consistent in its inconsistency.
Maybe not a masterpiece, but definitely good. And for once, it's good to see something that's not set in a high school.
There is even space for some workplace romance, never going too
...
deep, but the selling point is its sit-com punchline-based humor without the canned laughter.

I had high expectations after the first episode, and I like how the technical part is explained, but after some good ideas at the beginning, there is no action, no surprise, nothing really happens except the two guys writing and drawing, then meeting with the editor, getting excited over a phone call, rinse and repeat.
The art is plain bad. I skipped to the last episode of season 3 and the protagonist always looks the same. I thought "he should be 18 by now, so maybe he didn't change so much. I was wrong, he is 24, and still looks like he was 14. Oddly enough,
...
the manga and the anime inside the anime actually look better than the anime itself. Movements are not realistic, body parts are too big or too small, and physical appearance of some characters change so much that I could not recognize them at first sight.
There are some good points, some characters are very good, but the bottom line is: 25 episodes is just TOO MUCH, the story is going nowhere, and then you try to introduce new characters and suspense when it's almost over? We all know it's all good in the end, there is no real suspense if it starts in the middle of episode 24, sorry. You had 23 episodes for that, and still couldn't find anything better?
And I'm supposed to watch 2 more seasons?
And the guy will drive a Ferrari (out of nowhere) in the last episode?
No, thanks, I skipped to the last episode of both and the same nothing kept happening, so I am Ok with this.
