I'm going to keep this short and brutally honest. I didn't really like Shiki...
It has interesting characters, a solid back story, and clear motivation for the characters... but that said... meh. It doesn't really end so much as leave room for a sequel never to come, so you feel like you've read the first half of a book. Which is sad to me because it had a lot of potential. If it had lead to something cool, it would have gotten a higher rating, especially because it has one of the creepiest scenes I've ever seen in an anime, gave me chills...

I'm going to break up what I have to say into 5 paragraphs. Story: Interesting story, unique, but be prepared to be almost completely lost for the most of it. It's done in little segments that, when viewed all together, tell different parts/versions of the same story. Hang in there, it is worth the watch. Art: You won't see much in the way of fancy graphics here. Everything will be fairly standard. One tone of shadow, nothing really mind blowing. That said the contrast between its goofy, almost innocent style of animation mixed ... |
