This is really not your typical anime. It doesn't follow a standard problem-journey-solution storyline, which makes it a bit confusing, but also really interesting. What i mean by that is that the show is so fast-paced that it seems that the actual events that take place are not the main focus of the show. Its basically one big metaphor (for what i haven't figured out yet). Despite that, it still feels like dots are being connected, and mysteries are being solved, which is actually baffling to me. This movie is basically just the original NGE but worse. When i watched the original evangelion, i felt the depressing and hopeless tones the show was trying to convey, which to me were the things that made the series so beautiful. It showed how all of these characters were struggling so much and it made me empathise with them. This entire vibe of the original is just completely omitted in this movie. It's still a good movie, its evangelion after all, but it just feels so rushed and emotionless. It's action after action after action, with barely any points of rest. Also BAD CG alert!!!!
