I have a soft spot for slice of life and pets, so if you write a slice of life about pets, on god I’m gonna read it.

Anyway, MC is a meek cutesy-loving guy with a boisterous Pomeranian. FMC is a strong disciplined woman with a gentle scaredy cat Rottweiler. Major moe gap.

Their approaches to raising and caring for their dogs are opposite, their personalities are opposite, their taste in what is ‘cute’ is opposite, but they’re interested in each other. It’s still on-going so the part I’m at hasn’t revealed anything super romance-y but that’s probably the direction it’s going, though honestly I’d probably continue ... to enjoy it even without added romance. It’s sweet, it’s silly, it’s got dogs.

Spoiler free! A somewhat light-hearted tragedy. I originally found this because it was under recommendations for Oyasumi Pun Pun and while I do agree they are both tragedies, this is way less bleak (which is good imo). While you know MC’s days are dwindling down, it isn’t an oppressive feeling because he’s actually pretty happy all things considered. Bittersweet ending, bordering more on sweet than bitter. Made my stomach flip once or twice but got through with dry eyes.

The art is pretty simple, but I think it was effective enough to tell the story it wanted to tell. This was also a super fast read, ... I got through it in effectively an afternoon. I think manga was the perfect format for this — it isn’t super visually stimulating to warrant an anime, and the amount of dialogue vs everything else would make a pretty tiresome light novel.

I really liked this, to a point. I love the idea of a delinquent that is more interested in reading books than fighting. I love that the staff really welcomes him with open arms and loves him for who he really is vs who he tries to be in front of his friends. I love that he still is kind of a jerk. I love the extended cast of clients and other library employees (though sometimes it’s hard to keep track of who does what).

However I think this tried way too hard to be educational, to the point where it became a little boring at ... times. I loved seeing character development, growth, new characters entering the fold. But in between those brief moments there was just walls of text that had me skimming/skipping a ton, specifically around volume 4 and 7. I feel like this could’ve been a great slice of life about working in a library, if it wasn’t so bogged down with extremely detailed inner workings of how the library system functions.

The first half of the anime really had me, Moriarty was the type of antihero I love to see, and the orchestrating of the crimes was nice and thrilling. However once they introduced Sherlock, they seemed to really want to focus on his perspective instead and I swiftly started losing interest. I've seen one too many Sherlock adaptations, and the man just bores me at this point lol. I'm hoping part 2 takes it in a more adventurous direction and breaks the mold of the usual Sherlock medias, but I'm not holding my breath.

Also the sound direction, OP and ED were extremely forgettable.

I have absolutely no vested interest in gymnastics, I just watched because it was something easy to throw on my second monitor while I played video games. That being said, this was oddly compelling and just a sweet story overall. It wasn't action packed or super fast paced and I appreciated training montages to show large lengths of time passing; even in 11 episodes they managed to pack in a whole lot.

The cgi for the actual gymnastics were sometimes a little wonky, but as I was mostly in it for the story and listening rather than actively watching, it obviously didn't affect me very much. ... I've always been a sucker for found family, and I loved the extended cast. I doubt I'd revisit it for a rewatch or anything, but I'd probably tune in if another season ever came out.

Also the OP and ED were excellent!!

This felt like a slower pace, more mature Haikyuu. I liked the tragic backstories and trauma resolution, as well as the inter-office drama subplot. It was something really easy to throw on in the background while I did other things. The animation wasn't particularly stunning and I could not pick the characters out of a line up if you put a gun to my head, but the storyline was gently compelling enough that I continued to hit 'next episode' whenever the last one came to an end, and effectively got through the whole thing in one sitting. I also appreciated that they didn't try to ... be more than they were; they weren't hoping for the Olympics or anything, so everything mostly got solved by the end. It was also refreshing to have an anime's cast largely be adults or close to, rather than high school/middle school kids.

Would I rewatch? Probably not. I might recommend it to someone who enjoys sports anime with latent "subtext" though lol.

This show had a lot of wholesome value but I’m a little disappointed there wasn’t really any development between either couples. By the end they’ve all kind of accepted, “I like them, they MIGHT like me but I’m not sure” but then did nothing past that. Kazama gets a leg pillow and Igarashi gets to share an umbrella. I love slice of life with a dash of romance but this just didn’t do it for me. The main setting of working in some vague office and writing vague business proposals just wasn’t all that engaging, I’ve seen it done way better in other media. And ... again, the “romance” was underwhelming.

I might be a little biased but damn did I love this series. I came across this entirely by chance-- someone was asking for recommendations for something similar to Baccano and aside from the abundant answers of boku no pico, someone recommended a series by the same person, Durarara!! They recommender went as far to say that it was even better than Bacanno if you can ignore the fujoshi shit. I don't think I ever saw Durarara!! come up again for a couple months after that so I guess it was lucky I'd seen it when I did. I tried to get into Baccano but ... it just wasn't something I was in the mood for at the time so I tried Durarara and easily fell into it.

The first episode did not particularly woo me as much as I had hoped but it was definitely not hard to get into. My immediate allure to the show was actually Izaya and his "love" of people. He loved the kinds of reactions people had to just about anything, and while I like to think I am not much of a sadist, I can appreciate the idea. People are interesting creatures. Though I'd read the synopsis, I hoped for a lot more of Izaya and I was not disappointed as he peppered the show, observing and manipulating others acting as an informant and often having street lights thrown at him by an enraged Shizuo, who I was also a fan of but not necessarily paired together. I loved Shizuo's softer moments with Celty.

I'll say this now, I absolutely loved the soundtrack. Both opening themes are a great listen all by themselves and I often find myself youtubing the ost for some nice background music. Some of it is so simple but pretty memorable as being unmistakeably from Durarara!!.

I'd also like to point out, I am utterly surprised as I had watched the subbed version first, but I was thoroughly impressed by Simon's Russian accent in the dub. Out of everyone I was most concerned about his voice and it just so happened he sounded exactly as I imagined. I can remember some dubs going as far as changing the nationalities of characters to warrant a different kind of accent (I swear it was One Piece but don't quote me...) but this was a delightful surprise!

Something I loved about the characters was it made everyone seem like they were important. If they were shown once, they were always brought up again in a later scenario in unexpected ways. I liked that side characters got a few times to be fleshed out, rather than being a typical filler character that is mentioned once and never again. They may not have been main characters or friends of the main characters but they were still given a role that would tie into another main character's storyline eventually and I have the hugest boner for that kind of shit.

The story is great and has a lot going on the entire time and I loved the shit out of it because almost all of it was wrapped up in the end. I know I loved it but the producers were not going to kid themselves-- they knew they weren't going to get more than 24 episodes. So instead of leaving open questions or cliffhangers at the end for a possible sequel, it was all wrapped up rather nicely for the most part I think. There's the color wars, the Dollars and their origin, Saika the demon blade, Celty the headless rider searching for her missing head, the human kidnapping, trafficking and experimentation in a secret lab facility, all hidden beneath a cute boys doing gay things facade. And I loved it.

Yes, they never wrapped up what on earth was going on with the human experimenting fully, and yes they never went into Izaya's past (and I'm sure a few others) but I felt that everything else was done spot on and honestly, it was enough for me. There was so much going on I hardly noticed. And isn't it fitting that as a man that is in the business of digging up dirt on high profile people that he himself have a low one? Just a thought.

I'm a frequenter of /a/, so I've always heard that Clannad is one of the sadder series on that end of the spectrum, but I can't really be sure as I've never seen it. I've also heard both Clannad and Ano Hana referred to as "forced drama shit". I don't know about Clannad, but I can vouch for Ano Hana when I say if you actually watch it until the end, it is particularly heart-wrenching and nothing to me felt forced at all. In fact, Ano Hana hit me particularly hard. It is a tangle of (innocently enough) childhood love triangles hidden beneath a tragedy ... that everyone carries with them for years.

The best (and I guess worst, in it's own right) part about Ano Hana is that it has a really human feel to it at a lot of points. It's hard not to sympathize and relate when just about everyone has lost someone dear to them and wished that they could go back and and appreciate that time a little more, wished they could say something important to them. I don't know about you, but I know that feel pretty well.

All in all there was not a lot I can really complain about, there was a lot I really liked about it. For instance, I absolutely loved that though it wasn't apparent from the beginning, the answer they needed for her wish was in the opening theme but it wasn't obvious until the last few episodes.

I also felt that most of the characters were very fleshed out and had their flaws. After Menma's death, Jinta became a hikkikimori, Yukiatsu found some... eccentric ways to mourn, Poppo traveled the world, Tsuruko clung onto Yukiatsu but felt contempt over the fact that he could not get over Menma. And I dunno, Anaru became a conceited bitch trying to take Menma's place?? To each his own I guess.

I loved guessing throughout the show what Menma's wish was, but also dreaded them finding out, as they would ultimately lose her for a second time and make it even more painful. I also liked that they avoided something anime can be very guilty of-- everyone believing something at the tip of a hat. Everyone but Poppo really doubted that Menma was back and following Jinta around, Yukiatsu denied it almost until the very end! While it was frustrating sometimes to see his ignorance towards it after just about everyone else believed Jinta but him, I felt that it really kept his character intact, unwavering from what he believed and unable to forgive or believe Jinta after Menma's death.

While I can't say much about "enjoyment' because, well, I don't think I'd watch it again knowing I'll bawl for an hour during the last two episodes, I thought it was a very engrossing series and I liked that it sent me through a whirlwind of emotions--once. I made the mistake of watching the last episode and cried and cried just like I had months before when I'd watched it originally. I don't think I could watch it again-- my heart can't take it.

Overall, I loved the show, the characters were mostly well fleshed out, I paid no attention to the soundtrack unfortunately aside from the op, the art was nice (but what kinda kid has white hair?? whatever, she was adorable and pure) and I would try to avoid watching it again myself but it at least deserves one watch--hopefully one you won't soon forget!
