The protagonist of Alderamin, Ikta, is quite obviously modeled after one of the leading characters of LOGH, Yang Wen-Li. A lazy guy who hates war and never wanted to become a soldier but is an absolute strategic genius that is revered for his talents and does what he has to do, they also both hold subversive political beliefs.

These have a very similar atmosphere, both deal with crime and being an assassin and emphasize the effect death has on others. Not thoughtless shoot em' up action series, they are both very dark and focus a lot of the series on character development and the consequences of certain actions. Both are very consistent, there is a reason for everything that happens and when something bad happens it's irreversible, you won't see any spontaneous lucky breaks like are all too common in anime nowadays.

Zetsuen no Tempest

Frequent references to literature and classic plays in both, they also both involve a 'sister' and two male characters in love with her, and one male character willing to do reckless things for her while the other is level headed, in one the 'sister' is dead already and the other she is almost dead. (That's not a spoiler, you'll see what I mean) However Zetsuen no Tempest is a lot easier to understand, it has a clear plot with literature references to accompany the main plot, but in Mawaru Penguindrum literature and play references make up the backbone of the plot and a lot is left up for interpretation.

It’s time to ditch the text file.
